Hopefully , all the other conspiraloon sites will get baned too, as well as the nutters who keep spamming the blog with them. There are plenty of conspiracy sites on the internets, Take your sh!t there and leave this blog for those who want to discuss house prices.

  • We have to be careful not to project ourselves as being complete nutters.

Of course, two years ago, if you had said that there will be a depression worse than the 1930s, that Royal Bank of Scotland and Halifax would go bust and that the American government would nationalise the car industry, people would dismiss you as a nut case. These things may not happen, but it is no longer considered mad to have these opinions.

It is difficult to know where to draw the line, but it is certainly on the other side of prisonplanet.

  • Totally agree with the ban.

I’ve had enough of the green ink brigade here.

There are plenty of sites where lunatic fringe views are welcome. Let’s keep this site on-topic.

  • The final words should always be ‘then why don’t you create your own website?’

So we have to do our best under the given constraint, though in my personal opinion, more than 90% of the information on Prison Planet, Truth Seeker and Propaganda Matrix, etc. are true, which is better than main stream media.

  • Nicely said titanticcaptain. If that was typical of the thoughtfulness and respect for blog readers, I don’t think this topic would ever have arisen in the first place. I don’t like blocking references to certain sites either but there are certain bloggers who are posting such volumes of material that the whole tone of the blog changes. It doesn’t seem right that a handful of contributors should be so noisy. How do we wish to argue our corner? Surely not by who makes the most posts!

  • LP, Montesquieu if you had your way this site would lose its character and become downright boring, and branding people conspriraloons is just cheap. Not only that but you sound like you wish to stifle debate and certain opinions.

Seeing that most so called reputable news sources are anything but, I’ve no objection to the *occasional* article from prison planet or anywhere else. I’ve learned a heck of a lot from the ‘fringe’ posts. What the real truth of the matter is we may never know but these issues need exposure. One way or another its in all our interests to be aware of and keep an eye on this stuff, and this is the best place I can think of to debate it.

P4AC, IMO you can be over-zealous at times and think restraint is sometimes called for – perception is a funny thing and the site needs to remain credible to your average Joe. But I certainly appreciate your concerns and motives… and I identify with your frustration – everyone I know in the real world is either too pre-occupied or almost totally apathetic.

It would be good if webmaster updated the site policy or made the odd comment from time to time to put across the sites stand point on these issues.

Definately agree with TC about links in comments.

Interesting how people feel the need to protect the integrity of this site – it’s easy to see how a coorporation could take on a life of its own.

My opinion is, that prisonplanet has been spot on about the banker bailout, the crash, they predicted the sub-prime crisis 3yrs before it happened, and have been discussing the potential of a depression for over a decade, so, well, you get the point. It appears kooky purely because it is at such a distance from mainstream media. This phenomenon is exactly the same as art students looking kooky purely because their clothes, from second hand stores, are so different from those in top shop, even though their fashions were mainstream 10-15yrs ago. I have sympathy for Titan’s view also, to an extent, but, possibly 10% of articles posted here are from non-mainstream sources, so I’d say that the site is quite balanced at present. I personally prefer freedom, and, manipulation of information sources from webmaster will be counterproductive, because it will stifle debate and limit people’s ability to find the truth.

gardeniadotnet Where do I stand on the global melt down?

Two words: “Human greed”. Pure and simple. I have said it before but got jumped on by the conspiracists here for being one of the closed minded sheeple.

I don’t believe in NWO, contrails, 911 conspiracies, UFO’s, above unity energy machines, cars that run on water, dark matter energy machines, gold ramping (whether or not it does end up considerably higher than today is not the point) or any of the other fringe stuff often posted here.

I don’t feel the need to ram my message down people’s throats like some do here. The conspiracists get all huffy when someone challenges their half baked preaching’s!! Be it “buy gold” or “contrails to control the population”.

It’s the same as religion to some. I believe what I believe but I certainly don’t feel I should be out there peddling my point of view so forcibly to others like Jehovah witnesses, or s2r1 with all his stuff, or p4ac with gold ramping.

So now you know. I don’t need to be saved.

Blimey, it is worse than I thought.

Weather modification is a very different science to population control via contrails. You are confused.

So what are UFO’s a diversion from?

Energy machines suppressed… how convenient… even though I admit that you can find pages and pages of it on the internet but not one of them seems to work when push comes to shove. Show me one free energy machine that works and I’ll fly to where ever they are in the world to see it for myself and report back here. Nah, scratch that. Both of us can go together to check it out. Go on, make me proud. I’m sure the conversation on the plane would be sparkling.

    Oh, and I don’t have a TV.

I think you’re right to ban prisonplanet.com it is a known supplier of disinformation. Alex Jones has his own agenda and material is not objectively researched. While there may be some truths to what they say it serves little useful purpose other than ramping up confusion, fear and panic.

I think there is a place for an alternative view in economic discussions but not from that source.

  • I’m with Little Prof on this one, at long last! You could argue that this site has served its purpose since to all extents and purposes it seems the HPC is upon us (with prices actually falling far beyond what I expected…… except for my locale in Cambridge where prices are largely static, can’t win ’em all as they say) and now the debate should proceed to how far and widely they will fall. As a result I think the site has started to drift towards “extremism” as alot of viewers have lost interest and move on thinking ‘objective achieved’. There are several culprits who repeatedly post ad infinitum the most ridiculous conspiracy nonsense involving the “illuminati”, “Mayan prophecies”, etc, which frankly makes the users of this site look like a bunch of lunatics and likely turns alot of people away (I’ve been losing interest myself and I sigh whenever I see a post by p4ac, malct, s2r1, or any of the gold bugs…. on a side note gold doing real well at the moment down to just over $700/oz explain that one away gold bugs?!?). The webmaster has made a necessary first step to restoring sanity to this site but as little prof says the webmaster will have to go to the source of the problem and prevent the “usual suspects” from posting their nonsense (ie. p4ac, malct, s2r1, any and all gold bugs) otherwise the decline will continue and these three will be preaching to an empty church before long. Someone said a while ago if these guys want to spout out about this stuff they are welcome to but please not on a site about house prices because frankly I can’t see how the illuminati or the ancient Mayans have anything to do with it (though it is amusing to think of the Mayans in their temples in Palenque mulling over their astral calenders and musing about the state of the housing market in the UK 800 years hence, just before the end of the world of course…….. as I said preposterous!).

  • I think it might be about quantity. A few fringe / off topic postings were fine and quite interesting. Recently it has gone way over the top, such that it is hard just to find an article that mentions house prices.

If I want to read up about missiles being fired into the World Trade Center from jets that are about to crash in to it, then I can go to these other sites. When I am on this site I want to study the unfolding house price crash, which is, by the way far from being over.

  • You can either look at facts, and draw conclusions from them, or you can draw conclusions out of thin air and then try to find (or invent) snippets of information that support your conclusion.

I have very little time for those who pursue the second method..

  • Morning Malct. Not a nutter. Just someone who gets a bit giddy with the internet. Maybe his Mum and Dad were out yesterday and he let rip?

Just because someone is a nutter doesn’t mean they aren’t also highly intelligent – and there are few of that category on here. I think Mr to Rent 1 is a classic example.

If it was the odd article most can choose to skip past them, but sometimes you have to wait half a day to see an article that isn’t along the lines of ‘Elvis found on moon with a stash of dodgy mortgages and Lord Lucan is a NWO fish finger’

  • Agree with the above: a daily limit should be set on the number of posts people make
As for the loons, my objection is that they are so old-fashioned and reactionary. The gold standard for gawdsake! If you want the real rock and roll ,lets nationalise the banks and churn out credit at low or negative interest rates, then block it going into property with a Land Value Tax, keeping house prices down (to their cost of construction). Actually only the LVT bit of the above three-part approach has n’t already been taken.

  • I agree 3 posts a day max would be good. I personally try not post more than one a day, helps me be more selective about what I post. But I think this should be done out of respect for others rather than imposed by the webmaster.

  • As a free speech forum I do not believe you should censor anything simply because you don’t agree with it. I have been predicting this crash based on the arrival of peak oil. It was inevitable and it will not end within a couple of years as many pundits say. For saying this I was considered a nut by some of my colleagues who “mentally” censored me. Now the only comfort I have in all the gloom is rubbing their noses in it. If you censor views you do not agree with you will, at best, have your noses rubbed in the mess and at worst be blind sided by new disasters that may have been forseen by the “nutters”. My advice is to listen to all views and form your own opinions. If you don’t like something the remedy is in your control – go to the next comment or webpage.

  • I’m not in favour of the prisonplanet ban (if it is the case). The last thing you want on a website like this is censorship. Same goes for the moving of the gold thread. Whilst I don’t agree with everything that is said on pp or on the gold thread, they provide(d) a different angle on much of what has been happening, and that is valuable in itself, even if one concludes they are all nuts. Of course one has to be careful to prevent a site from being hijacked but I haven’t seen any signs of that yet. Each day there are a lot of mainstream articles linked to here, as well as the stuff from outside the normal boundaries of sanity. I appreciate both.

The reason I would like the webmasters opinion is because he might end up feeling cornered by the result. On the other hand he may welcome a vote to see how people feel about this. That difference is the difference between me wanting to vote in your thing or not.

  • My 2 pence worth

If there is a user changing the tone of the forum not to the liking of HPC administrators why not approach that user (or those users) and deal with the specific matter giving them a warning when needed or even excluding them from posting? Rather than block a site (any site) that has a great deal of resources that may be relevant and valid?

Or maybe the government are controlling this site as well and it’s more censorship at the highest level (just kidding there…)

  • “Free speech” doesn’t mean everyone is free to post whatever drivel they like on this privately owned and privately run forum. The owners make the rules and can do whatever they wish to maintain the website.

“Free speech” means you are free to start your own website forum. One where people can post anything they like with no censorship. One where you can post links to Prison Planet and any number of anti-semitic websites that blame the Jews, lizards and Mayans for the world’s ills. And one, therefore, that is clogged with garbage and which no-one will read. Which is why the conspiracy theorists prefer to hijack mainstream websites like HPC.

Your post here is not only valid but vital to keeping all available information accessible otherwise readers are only left with part of the information, and most likely the part that VIs want us to hear about which thinking about it, is the primary reason for this discussion forum – to understand the house price crash and get past all the VI lies to the reality of the situation
