No, getting an IMF loan will come with conditions that all public utilities are sold to the private sector (Goldman Sachs), and that public spending on health, etc is slashed. These idiots forget that the Icelandic government can print the money for itself without charging itself interest, and that sound money is even more important.

  • This is pretty bad and the way New Labour treated Iceland is terrible. This is a country with the same population as Bristol.
The Uk and Iceland are going to exist for much longer than the current economic decline, its pretty stupid to expect a handful of Icelanders to come up with funds that hey don’t have, and it is also true that they didn’t get the profits from the Icelandic banks. They just happened to be there.
New Labour can throw away nations with good feelings towards the UK but we won’t get them back on our side anytime soon. Shafting over Iceland was pure stupidity, and with such a lack of grace, unbelievable. I personally don’t feel that the Icelanders need to pay back the funds.
You pay your money and you take your choice.
Also, in case we forget, the mass of the British public votes Labour, or New Labour. They knew, hand out everything, and they did know. Lets not fool ourselves.
My dislike of Labour voters makes me mumble when I walk along. Sadly I am not joking.
