Trading Financial Autonomy for Bicycles

Bailout Bill Passes Senate

Well, it's time, apparently, for Americans to get on their bikes. The Senate passed the bailout bill, after it was "sweetened" for certain of their membership by promises of tax breaks for riding one's bicycle to the office, and the raising of insurance benefits for mental patients. Perhaps many of the senators will benefit from additional benefits as they must certainly be mental patients themselves. The sole benefit to taxpayers appears to be for those who have more than $100,000 in savings as they would be protected to a limit of $250,000 instead. No mention of what happens to the criminal executives who perpetrated this scam on the American people. Presumably their personal financial triumph continues unabated and they won't need the FDIC to help them out.

  • This whole debacle for the taxpayer was surely the greatest ‘acting’ the world has ever seen.

……….How can we burden the American tax payer by voting yes to such a plan???????……….. Schizophrenia At it’s best!

  • Cornishman…….great image. In your estimation, is this a news item, a prediction, or wishful thinking? nota bene: the sieve should be made large enough to accomodate bank executives who’ve received annual compensation of seven figures or more, while their customers pay exorbitant fees and receive no interest for their money.

Anybody know whether it passed by more or less votes than last time and by how much? Looks like Congress votes tomorrow. Peeps here may want to help Americans and everybody else by sending a few email’s to a few congress peeps. Maybe even call in?

  • It’s the Senate who passed it – and is sending it back to the House of Representatives with changes – like consideration of those riding bicycles to work in Arizona. And raising the FDIC limit. Big deal. Paulsen still gets to be Emperor. So talk to members of the House of Representatives. The Senate passed it by a fair margin – including both Presidential candidates voting for it. As I’ve said on here before, neither of them has a clue.

The House of Representatives website: http://www.house.gov/

All the representatives, speaker and whips, are listed. I don’t know if the switchboard is mobbed, but they say it’s diffcult getting an email through and the system is slow from the massive traffic.
