the 3 minute segment trying to corner her on UK debt
Yvette Cooper gets grilled by Andrew Neil on UK debt
I think this must be Yvette Cooper's worst interview yet. AN corners her on household debt and she has no escape other than to trot out her usual well worn phrases. Watch it here

just like all the labour ministers – she is a twit! and rude, and arrogant, and full of s**t!

lol, she just wont answer the question, what a cow..
Oil Man says:
She typifies all that is wrong with politicians in general and especially Brown’s Labour Govt. Unable to answer the question because she either doesn’t know the facts and/or she knows it will highlight the terrible consequences of 11 years of poor mismanaged government by her party. She and the Govt do not know what to do other than sing the same old mantra which is now being exposed for being nothing other than false in its entirity. The Govt allowed this situation to occur and now have no clue in how to rectify matters. Once again Labour will implode and be kicked out of office. They know thus thus the dash to spend spend spend. This leaves an ugly mess for whoever replaces them in 2010. It leaves an uglier mess for every man woman and child (and their children) as we are the ones who will pay for it financially and socially. The Govt are a disgrace. I am not convinced by the opposition either. About time we rid ourselves of professioanl politicians altogether.

Excellent. I’d missed that one. Actually, I must make an effort to avoid seeing Ms Cooper as I have this growing urge to put my size 11 boot through the screen.
One criticism, I’m suprised that AN let her off the hook on the low unemployment statement. We all know that that is a lagging indicator which most politicians know is escalating exponentially.
Whostolemyendowment says:
She won’t answer because she can’t answer….there is no answer….it is not for government to tell people how to spend their money (what we have left after direct and indirect taxation) – but they should have (have had) banking rules in place to prevent people taking out too much debt…..but the sheeple wouldn’t like that medicine either.
I rent, am debt free, loan free, with some savings for a rainy day…..bet the government don’t give a toss about me either!

Andrew Neil could have argued this point much earlier when we were seriously discussing here the implication of the greatest household debt and the imminent credit crunch. It was so easily predictable.

Entertaining post however it comes as little comfort to know that in the midst of a genuine economic crisis we have numpties of Mrs Ball’s abilities at the helm.
notaneconomicsguru says:
Last crash as I recall we also had a bunch of numpties in charge but back then they all had irritatingly posh accents and were even more pompous and condescening than now. Arrogance and stupidity levels about the same I would say though posh accent seemed to go some way to hiding the policy vacuum state between the ears. Nothing much really changes I’m afraid.
planning4acrash says:
These guys are not incompetent. The end to private property is OFFICIAL UN policy, that is why building regulations are getting progressively stronger to the point where all home owners are criminalized. Its why the ponzi scheme focused on housing.
planning4acrash says:
Just discovered that Hips force home owners to apply for a certificate of lawful development for permitted development now. Bringing ALL development under regulation. Green regulations will control what lightbulbs you use, CFL’s are full of MERCURY!!!!!!!
mark wadsworth says:
@ P4AC, but it’s teeny tiny bits of mercury, safely enclosed in glass and so on, and liquid mercury is harmless, it’s only chronic exposure to mercury vapour that does you in.
enuii says:
Here here Mark it’s misinformed greenwash like the hysteria about Mercury and Lead that permitts a whole range of ridiculous statements and petty legislation in the country. I was raised on the stuff, had my dinner cooked in aluminium pans and my teeth filled with amalgam and can still see whats wrong with the UK.
enuii says:
Watched the interview and it is utterly cringeworthy, I think most government ministers are solely in their positions because they do exactly as they are told by their masters.
harold says:
enuii, couldn’t agree more. Sort of feel sorry for her. Mum and dad saved for years to send her to a ‘good’ school so she could have this sort of ‘career’ and she lands the brief from hell:
GB: Here’s a great big pile of sh*t, now get shovelling.
YC: Err… Oh God, not me – help… mummy!
