  • ontheotherhand says:

“The green shoots of recovery for the housing market are still taking life on the Spreadfair betting exchange. For the second month in a row the future price of an average UK home in Q4 2010 has crept upwards.”

Either that or punters are pricing in greater inflation expectations.

  • That’s OK then, by my reckoning at this predicted rate of growth (3%/month, YOY of 36%) we will be back where we are now by April 2011 and back to 2007 peak by August 2011. Matches Nationwide’s predictions, so we should all be jumping in now, just in case we miss the bottom. B*ll*cks!!!!!!!!!!! These spreads change direction with the wind, but it may be enough to tempt the Express to run a headline using Cantor’s line: “Green shoots of Recovery for the Housing Market”

  • Actually on a more serious note its unusual for the further away contracts to exhibit a discount in any commodity market (is property a commodity market?) and such a situation is called a backwardation [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Backwardation].
