Can HBOS ad RBS survive the market turmoil?
Lehman fallout: HBOS and RBS are getting slaughtered
The question now is about liquidity for these two as they are coming under selling pressure. The near term looks very volatile for them. I wonder if UK authorities will do something to calm the nerves.

“Now that the UK has joined the housing bust, one must ask where are the massive write-offs that have to be sitting on HBOS’ books? Why aren’t they looking to do another rights issue like RBS? I fully expect some pretty horrific things coming from HBOS as the housing crisis heats up in Britain.”
The did do a rights issue, and it wasn’t very successful.

I have a question good people of housepricecrash.co.uk. I have an £800 overdraft with the Halifax from my university days. I now have a well paid, secure job with good income growth annualised at 25%. This is not in finance or reliant on the British economy, I am one of the few people in this country who actually contributes to the balance of payments nor is my firm exposed to the US (thank the God’s). Well anyway if the Halifax goes under which it increasingly looks like it might does this mean my overdraft gets wiped out? I have not had a chance to build up any savings and with a steady income stream I should not have problems getting another account. Could this work in my favour?
Regards.
