Seeking Government intervention

Stewart Baseley, of the Home Builders Federation

Barratt has just released an update to the stock market on how well they are performing. Stewart Baseley, of the Home Builders Federation, discusses the results. And sounding like Steven Cranshaw just before B&B collapsed.

  • Stewart Basely and the art of spin! A classic moment of hypocrisy which the BBC interviewer picked up on quite admirably. First Mr Basely argues that the reason for the downturn in home building is due to market conditions, he then suggests some intervention by the government to manipulate these conditions to improve the performance in this sector. Incredible, it was non-intervention by the government that created the bubble in the first place, now these VI hypocrites expect the government to dig them out of this hole and in the process kick start the housing boom once more.

I find the entire matter totally distasteful, greedy businessmen with little regard to the affordability to one of the basic rights of humanity, namely a place to live.
