Brrrrrrrr!

We're in for a bleak winter as the economy slumps into deep freeze

This is not just any slump, this is an M&S slump. It is a risotto recession and a Starbucks slowdown. The credit crunch has just landed foursquare in the front garden. Listen to Sir Stuart Rose of Marks & Spencer, who says families are giving up "fripperies" when they shop in his stores. Listen to Andy Clarke, retail director at Asda, who has seen his car parks filled with "expensive metal" as well-off customers desert Waitrose.

  • yeh those shopping trollies can be expensive and they let the kids vandalise the area with them…lol

I can actually see Aldi and Lidl suffering as the big boys steal their market

  • After all, the economy is undoubtedly more dynamic, and the Bank of England is likely to be far more sensible when setting interest rates than were the politically motivated ministers who once did so.

this makes no sense!!! if it was political last time round why did the rates hit double figures and why are they too low now?

In my experience half of those with “expensive metal” deserting Waitrose never had any money in the first place. Been to many a BBQ or friends round for dinner to suss that out. Always the same lot bleating on about renting being a waste of time and suggesting we should get on the ladder before its too late! its been too late for us for 5 years. There is no bloody ladder as far as I’m concerned and I don’t intend living on baked beans for the next thirty years paid for by the credit card just to tell everyone I’m free to paint my kitchen any colour I chose because I own it.

Perhaps if they where Waitrose baked beans I might think about it…

    Rant over.
