  • How many ministers does the Liebour (that’s how I spell it these days) government have? Another scam to extract more money from us taxpayers…

Absolutely sick, given that MP’s are unique, being able to vote themselves a pay increase (21%) that equals the true rate of inflation, the growth in money supply. Well, even they are being duped, because, whilst their income is going up at the rate of true inflation, their savings, assets and possibly pensions are still depreciating.

  • Shows how out of tough they are, particlularly as his department has hit road users so hard and unfairly (road tax increase claiming to be green) in recent times.

This man may well find himself out of office soon, then we’ll see how cockey he is.

Actually… politics aside… I think he’s got a few vaild points in there. This country has many many problems but in many ways it is better than the 70’s/80’s/90’s. Particularly the improvements in enertainment and communications. It is worse in a lot of ways too. I don’t give much credit to the govenment for imporvements there have been. The western world has generally looked after itself. I suppose no one actually knows how bad it will get yet. Not even dedicated bears like myself.

“our citizens have never been so wealthy.”

Really? I would say our citizens have never had house prices that are so stupid. It’s not wealth until you can spend it.

“”We’re securer than ever, at least in international terms. There’s no equivalent of the Soviet Union threatening to bury is in a nuclear armageddon.”

Really? Iraq, Afghanistan, Iran building nukes to name but a few. A china with a rapidly expanding Armed Forces budget – not to mention the Russians getting rather negative towards the west.
Israel practicing war/strike on Iran on a huge scale. With oil prices probably reflecting the ‘fear’ in the world today.

People are miserable in growing numbers due to the increasing cost of living which extends to buying a property to live in. Lecturing people of just how good life is won’t help at all.
