A full blown recession is approaching

Fears of widespread job losses grow as unemployed figures rise sharply

I do not like scaremongering, but what we have witnessed over the 42-day vote is going to be nothing compared to the economic recession that will start as soon as the summer holidays are over. Even if New Labour chucks out GBH before the summer recess (to allow a new leader to be elected), it’s going to be too late to get the economy back on the road.

  • Don’t go around terrorising people with your scaremongering ….. you’ll get 42 days!!

  • It’s taken a while, but at long last the unemployment figures have started ticking up. The only question now is how far it will go? Companies most exposed to consumer discretionary spending will be hardest hit: that includes all non-food retailers, restaurants, holiday companies, car dealerships, and much more. Obviously estate agents will suffer too, but none of us are likely to shed a tear!

Oh I’m so frightened. Half the nation is going to entitled to full board accommodation at Her Majesties Leisure Facilities.

I hope the Lords dispose of it and tell the government not to be so stupid. Thank goodness we still have the upper house, otherwise it would be a sad day for free speech and civil liberties. Might as well emigrate to Zimbabwe and criticise the government there.

I hope this gets tested in the European Court of Civil Liberties; the taxpayer is going to have to pay out millions in compensation for every case that is not 110% watertight.
