SÓCÍÉTÉ Générálé is launching a new card offering six months interest-free credit on balance transfers of up to €50 billion.

SOCGEN OFFERS 0% ON BALANCE TRANSFERS UP TO €50 BILLION

Use the card to buy a new hat, some DVDs and the charming, copper-rich state of Burkina Faso.

Getting fed up of practically every Daily Mash article being linked to on this blog. They’re not that funny, and it’s not relevant either,

Thanks little prof, I appreciate your dark humour!! Don’t worry, there are more to come!!!

I also like the Orwellian Irony of your quasi censorship approach. But you also make a good subtle point about the limited humour in the media about all this stuff, maybe we wouldn’t be in this situation if people could ridicule it?!

Thanks for your contribution, much appreciated. Lots of love, the big P4C.

Good point Mark, well ironically put, indeed, we shall not need censorship, because we already censor ourselves. Keep up the good work.

Accusing anyone who disagrees with you of trying to censor you is very cowardly. This blog is supposed to be for news articles related to house prices. Criticising you for posting offtopic information is not censorship, it’s just good blog etiquette. Proper articles get crowded out by this trash.

  • I’m glad someone has expressed displeasure at these posts: it just dilutes the good, real stuff. (And the links are dull).

  • P4C, how about this for an idea.

I don’t think its the tone of the articles, the humour or the fact that they’re not altogether relevant every time, but more the volume of articles that other posters take issue with.

A mash article every other day of the week tends to create humour fatigue for regular visitors. Personally though, I’m always in the mood for a humorous article on Fridays – if you post mash articles on Fridays I’m sure people will appreciate them more.

  • Trouble is though, can we possibly bring the Establishment (UK) and the Industrial Military Complex (US) to it’s knees with just Mash on a Friday?

  • I personally find some of these articles very offensive. I would have thought the moderators would have removed some of them. I don’t agree why these should take up a place in the blog when more relevant news items get archived due to the daily mash’s position and time of post.

  • You guys just don’t get it, these Daily Mash articles are a huge conspiracy! Think about it – if it was true, the secret real masters of the world would have closed down the site long ago. They know that by distracting us with comedy, we will ignore the collapsing economy and the shadowy super-rich swishing by in their Bentleys.

Or not. Let’s stick with sensible HPC-related articles please. No more non-news stories, no more humourous postings, no more conspiracy theories. Just real news that’s vaguely relevant to house prices.

Little Professor, I think you’re taking this WAY too seriously! Firstly it is funny and secondly it provides much needed relief from the constant despair usually posted on here. Nothing is too serious and since in the long run we’re all dead anyway we may as well have a few chuckles along the way. In short, lighten up you miserable old git! Regarding Proper articles, you should have read my posts informing anyone with any brains that nothing new is being posted here and that all posts come under the same broad headings. If you’re so desperate for new interesting experiences may I suggest wandering out into the real world and living your life rather than seeking out serious/despair filled articles with a view to make yourself miserable (although it appears perhaps youre too far down that road already)

  • Sorry Pecker, this is the News Blog. There isn’t a Satire Blog on this site. I think what Little Prof said is perfectly acceptable in this situation. It’s strange that you imagine he’s “desperate for new interesting experiences” whereas you seem to be spending time on a site you feel has “constant despair usually posted on here” and “nothing new posted here”. Methinks YOU’RE in the wrong place.

  • Wiltshire,

Is satire not telling?? As it happens it can be very informative as to the current state of affairs. Regardless, my point isnt to really discuss whether or not satire is useful anyway. My point is to suggest that a sense of humour is important for your quality of life and that if you take things to seriously ( as you cleary do also) there isnt a great deal of point in anything. I think im in the right place, trying to educate people to question whether or not wallowing in despair and self indulgence is good for you (it isnt by the way) I would put it to you that YOU are in the wrong place and you ought to consider chilling out and generally relaxing rather than soaking up negative/old news that you cannot change and will only make you even more miserable (if indeed that is possible)

  • The Daily Mash isn’t even good satire. I wouldn’t mind half as much if it was vaguely amusing.

Incase you hadn’t noticed, the article infers to the FACT that less strong economies, such as Africa & mom & pop shops have and will be swamped with and taken over by credit. Third world debt, Camden market owned now by a private equity fund.

  • It annoys me when rubbish like this takes an important place in the blog , where more relevant articles could be posted. Articles from the “Daily Mash” just knock the important articles down a place on the blog and into the archive section.

Satire was one of the main ways of spreading anti establishment ideas during Victorian times because its digestable for joe six pack and more fun than dry politics and economics. I only just found the mash and its points are spot on. Glad 2 find better 1s

  • Pecker, don’t worry about me cos I’m as chilled and relaxed as I need to be. You have a very troll-like appearance and I think I’ll do with you as I did with David 90210. I simply told him I wasn’t prepared to rise to his bait any longer and stopped replying to his tedious posts (even though some of them were so off the mark I almost felt he needed comments back). Funnily enough, he soon vanished (not because of me but because he must have realised he’d been wrong about the whole situation re: HPI/HPC). Anyway, same treatement for you. Goodbye troll.

  • I’m all for the daily mash links, I don’t think there are too many (daily would be too many), we have had more than previously but since the economic situation seem to be in their sights lately, I think that’s to be expected.

As for the anti- comments, come on guys, lighten up, it’s got to be better than conspiracy theories and mayan calendars after all.
