First Direct (HSBC) Pulls ALL mortgages
First Direct withdraws mortgages
First Direct has temporarily stopped offering any of its mortgages to people who are not already its customers. The bank, which is part of HSBC, said the withdrawal was to allow it to cope with the unprecedented demand for its range of mortgages. Is HSBC in trouble?

This is BIG news, and a panicked Stephen King yesterday in Independent proves it. First Direct are pulling out to avoid higher rates, but this will only mean that those still in the market raise rates yet further. This accelerates the process.
