Visions of the future

Stagflation Today Hyperinflation - Depression Tomorrow

"The federal government will install martial law, capital controls, and close banks for a spell while the armed forces are overrun with applicants by those needing food and a bed. Many cities become uninhabitable due to crime, disease and neglect. Large parts of Detroit have already returned to the wild with coyotes and other unusual birds and critters living in burned out homes and huge vacant land parcels where stately homes once stood. In lieu of valueless dollars, rural people in particular will use trading and goods barter instead of paper cash. There are two million guns in the United States and they are going to be used on criminals, to settle old grudges and the cops who will not be able to cope."

Very scary visions of the future.
I can’t help thinking that this guy’s vision is built on replaying out previous depressions in a modern scenario that includes other factors such as peak oil and peak food.

If you really want to understand how things may play out then you need to understand the whole nature of evolution and where our position is in it.

I know I have posted this before but I will post it again anyway.

  • Pure hogwash! C’mon people can we please stop posting spit inflected invectives from clearly loopy individuals who seem to revel in apocalyptic predictions of this type, let them put these on “endofcivilisation.co.uk” and not this site. Such delusional rants do this site a disservice and pander to the worst stereotyping that the press invoke when discussing the content on this site (often with more than a hint of contempt). Please let us not make it easy for them to dismiss this site out of hand, stick to housing related content and cut out the junk from ‘gold bugs’, survivalists and general nut-jobs.

sorry, this is all too much. You are scaremongering and it’s not necessary. I read all your posts as you seem well thought out on the housing issues, even if it is always from a fatalistic view, but every now and then it just verges on mania. Are you prophesising the end of the world in 2012, an attack from a sun spot, maybe yellowstone national park erupting as a result of an EA going bust? Bringing the Mayan calendar into this is mad, if you look every religion has its own set of prophecies just like this.

Surely there are better blog sites for this sort of opinion?

Boltonfury – if you are not scared by the scaremongering, fair enough. But if you think things through, you can see that some of the thoughts that s2r1 posts may well have an impact upon the future of house prices – even if you don’t agree with his ‘religious’ points. I can’t see that one out of ten postings in such a vein is out of the way. It leaves room for nine postings from the Daily Sheeple newspapers.

    theboltonfury,

Sorry to scare you but isn’t it better to understand the changes that are likely to take place before they happen so you can prepare yourself physically and more importantly, mentally.

For the record, I am not saying 2012 is the end of the world. I never did. Neither have I mentioned any eruption in Yellowstone National Park.
The videos I have posted do not say these things.

I see 2012 as a moment of singularity that has been brewing since the Big Bang.
A moment of singularity happens when exponential change levels go vertical and we make a complete break from the past.

    VIDEO: Singularity Seminar Part 1/7
    http://video.google.co.uk/videoplay?docid=-465847368402202034

As for the relevance for this blog. In essence this blog is about what is going to happen in the future. Most people originally joined the blog to discuss when house prices would stop rising, and after the crash, when would be the bottom?

It is rapidly becoming clear as the economic situation gets worse that there might be bigger things to worry about, and what we thought we knew as reality is beginning to change before our eyes.

These videos are not meant to scare you but help in this process of change that is occurring. Just because the content of the video is not what you want to hear, it doesn’t make it wrong to post them.

We are all getting the HPC that we wished for. As the saying goes “be careful what you wish for. You might just get it.”

If you had actually watched the videos then you will see the final outcome is not doom and gloom, but the TOTAL opposite. We are heading for a stage of consciousness called “global enlightenment”, where the age of materialism is replaced by one of spiritualism. Surely, this news is worth telling.

  • Faustus, theboltonfury, rickyb, who are you guys (or are you a single guy with multiple email addresses and an axe to grind)? You rarely, if ever, post and then suddenly get on your high horse. The article is on the Kitco website – a conservative publication related to the precious metals market. To link gold bugs with “survivalists” and “general nut-jobs” is outrageous – a lot of people on this site have looked to alternative forms of investment in order to protect their wealth while the current debacle unfolds. This article, although extreme in some respects, is clearly relevant in that it posits the idea that we are in for a period of hyperinflation. If you have savings, you must be aware of the potential risks of this sort of economic environment. The fringe media is full of stories, mostly less severe, similar to this one.

  • 2/3 of this article is related to houseprices
the author simple doesen’t think that we will recover this time
i think it is a fair point ,maybe not quit realistic i.e boom followed by bust and then more bust
when in the past it’s been boom bust boom

“Housing is toast for years and prices are in a scary free-fall. Top 2006 house prices will return to 2003 prices. In some cases; much lower. In the previously hottest housing markets, retail prices increased +100% from 2003 to 2006. Guess what? Now they go down as much as they went up. In some cases even lower. One analyst figures 10,000,000 homes are foreclosed with keys returned to lenders in 2008. In 2009, it gets even worse.”

I have no religious points here. All my ideas come from recognition of patterns and cycle theories
As for religion. If you watched the video Zeitgeist,(link posted above) you will see that all religions are based on the same “Jesus template” which can all be explained through cosmology and how we worshiped the sun in early human development. The power structures that evolved in our civilization then created religion to control the masses.

  • America has long been home to all sorts of apocalyptic fantasies … Charlton Heston seemed to have a monopoly on their screen depictions for a while in the 70s (Planet of the Apes, Omega Man).

The US economic situation is indeed dire and the credit crisis (coming on top of military overreach) may well be the blow that abruptly ends American dominance of world markets, institutions and politics – after the so-called American Century – and begins its gradual decline. But 200 million people, some of them well-educated, in a country with many natural resources (much more than China), can’t be written off so easily.

I have to say though those of us who deplore the way America has behaved in the world, whether in south and central America (where 40 years of CIA trained, armed and funded death squads remain unpunished), in Asia (Vietnam, Cambodia), and in the middle east (backing Israeli expansionism into occupied Palestine as well as state-sponsored voilence and illegal collective punishments against civilians, also the overthrow of the middle east’s first democracy – in Iran – in the 1950s and the imposition of a dictator, the Shah, and of course the illegal invasion of Iraq) do feel a shudder of Schaddenfreude when we look at America’s troubles.

But sometimes I wonder if that’s what the rest of the world feels about us? (China hasn’t forgotten the Opium Wars you know … one of the shabbier episodes in British history and woefully under-taught).

actually harold I do post regularly, and i am not on my high horse but I am not sure what that’s got to do with anything? maybe you just enjoy the threads on apocalypse or gold and we never meet? Surely the whole 2012 is linked into the Mayan calendar going into a different era? Sorry, but to me that’s preaching a religious prophecy based on astrology. There is even a website called survive2012.com which bangs on about the Mayans (which as you point out do not think the world will end in 2012), Atom Compressors etc

However s2r, I hope your right. In 2012 I would a house and spiritual enlightenment, but i suspect that according to this then houses would not exist as they do now? I am open for some education from you. All I am saying is that you can’t surely say that there will be Global Enlightenment when at the same time the events are occuring in your initial article. That sounds more like global carnage than enlightenment

  • s2r1 – IMO your postings widen the debate (outside of the maintstream press) on the prospect for HPC and provide a broader economic perspective on why a correction/crash is likely – if people take the time to fully read and understand the content they might actually form the opinion that this adds to the credibility of the site rather than detracting from it. Surely we need a bit more than a series of articles from the Express reading “house prices up/house prices down”

I respect s2r’s views and as i say always read his posts about global carnage. But to link it to an ancient South American tribes’ sun worshipping is surely detracting from the credibility? These claims are 100% unsupported by any evidence. Someone tell be that they KNOW that in 2012 there will be a global spiritual shift as a result from Mayan philosophies. It does sound a bit like a grown up version of Russell Grant

I.e if you have a load of money in gold, oil or other how can you get your actual monetary returns out if the banks are in meltdown. Even if you have done this by 2011 for example, then what do you do. Keep it under your mattress? probably not the best place if there is going to a period of gun crazed looting

If you watch the 3 videos posted (about 6 hours worth) then you may begin AND I SAY BEGIN to understand.

A quick summary to get you on your way is.
Evolution is both cyclical and exponential. Calleman/Lungold divide the years from the big bang to 2011 into 9 cycles. Each cycle gets 20 times shorter than the previous one. Each cycle is tied to a fundamental level of consciousness. As we move from one cycle to the next, the level of consciousness moves up one level. The target for 2011 is co-creation or global enlightenment where the Earth could be perceived to be working like an organism in its own right.

Evolution does not set a smooth path for these transitions between cycles. In fact it is the opposite. The fundamental workings of the old cycle have to be destroyed so the new cycle that corresponds to a new level of consciousness can emerge.

The key destruction phase that allows this process to continue is called the “fifth night”.
    Previous fifth nights have been:
    Great depression and WW2
    Roman Empire falling
    Neanderthals going extinct
    Dinosaurs going extinct
Earth encased in ice after thermal sea flows breakdown
250 million years of asteroid bombardment of Earth

We are in the fifth night right now. It started on 19 Nov 2007 and will last for 360 days. In this fifth night the ethics group overcomes the power group (politics/banks/media/corporate).

We have seen the economic side of the destruction like in the 1930s in the last 4-5 months. We are about to enter into the war stage on 19 March 2008.

This war will not be a military one like WW2, but an information war held between the internet and mass media, where the battle for the truth will be fought.
All the corruption of 911 and 77 false flag operations will come out. By September the main battle should have been won by the ethics group.

I understand why some people think I am crazy. People are not ready to move to the next level of consciousness yet because they are still clinging to the current one. Most of you still have dreams of buying a house in 2012 after the carnage has settled down. Spiritualism will eventually replace materialism.

The NEXT and FINAL fifth night occurs in summer 2011 (this also coincides with Martin Armstrong’s massive low). If you think things are bad now then they will appear to be much worse in the summer of 2011. This is when global enlightenment overcomes ethics. Essentially any and every part of reality that is left will be up for grabs and could disappear.

I am hoping that the number of deaths in this (2008) fifth night will be low – and it should be. If that is the case then the pain in 2011 will be entirely a mental one whereby suicide of people unable to cope will be the biggest killer.

    cornishman,

No – I just put two and two together – and was flying a bit of a kite with the remark. It’s early days yet though. It just seems very odd that someone like him would go walking in the mountains with the bad weather that was forecast anyway. And would then commit suicide. What happened does fit in with the claims about 9/11 and 7/7 though…

“Just as the highest and the lowest notes are equally inaudible, so perhaps, is the greatest sense and the greatest nonsense equally unintelligible.” – Alan Watts

I personally don’t trust prophecy or predictions. However, we only need to look clearly at the financial churnings going on to know that the party is over, life is about to change. Fear comes from holding on to things as they are. Think clearly about what will happen when banks stop supplying credit, start calling in their debts. Even the the Fed Chairman Bernanke admitted that banks will fail. Clear your debts as soon as you can. Although cash will lose some value due to rampant inflation it will be in short supply in the years ahead. So hoard it and consider your investments carefully, because stock markets will crash. If you enter this depression with cash you will pick up bargains at auctions of repossessed cars and housing reclaimed from those who binged on easy credit.

This economic melt-down is as George Bush let slip, “Just paper after all…”.

A far more realistic scenario is for the US to be far more hawkish and basically take other people’s wealth to pay for the
work they do keeping the world from disappearing into a mushroom cloud. No more free ride guys. The British did the
same thing in their Empire, so?! Hey we abolished slavery at the same time, so it wasn’t all bad.

I am sorry I can’t share optimism about enlightenment or whatever. I think that the behavior of people is quite well covered off
by the out of vogue Christian ideas of sin (greed, pride, sloth, envy, etc, etc).

Yeah things are going to change, but not before the US is actually defeated in the field, look how long the Roman empire lasted,
they had many of the same debt issues, look it up.

Suffice to say, there has to be an actual fight, nothing changes as long as the US holds the military advantage.

Frankly I am betting on the US, you want the Russians or Chinese to take over? That would be far less fun.

You may find them a tad less tolerant.

    theboltonfury,

“Are you saying we’re on a predetermind path”

I have thought long about this one . This theory suggests a set a mathematics is governing evolution. Does the mathematics predetermine the exact location every sub-atomic particle at any moment of time or is there some “freedom” or “free will” allowed into the formula. My guess is there must be some element of “free will” or what would be the point in developing a system that runs for 16 billion years only to arrive at the end that could have been determined at the beginning.

At a wild guess I think there may be a link between free will and parallel universes. If you have the free will to drive a car from A to B then there are millions of possible routes but only a few that are probable.

    “What’s your strategy for survival?”
The physical survival plans are quite obvious.

Ian Lungold’s law – “What you pay attention to – you become conscious of” is key to survival.
If you take this law and run with it then you can quickly find that your consciousness runs ahead of your friends and family who think you have lost the plot.

Here is some advice on this from prisonplanet.com

“To those who find themselves being rejected and/or laughed at, it’s important to remember a few points. First, when people laugh at the truth, it is a sign of their fear. They are afraid to think about what is actually occurring in America today, and how worthless and crooked politicians are stealing our God-given rights from us. For these people, the natural self-defense to this frightening truth is to pretend it’s not happening. For them, it is easier to bury their heads in the sand while striking a dismissive attitude. Psychologists call this cognitive dissonance, and to most it is known as denial. In any case, recognize their laughter for what it is; fear. Don’t become angered when they laugh or smile at you, but instead ask them if they have seen the documentation showing our loss of freedom. Ask them if they know what the USA PATRIOT ACT means, if they understand the consequences of surrendering freedoms for temporary security, etc. Friends and family are often the most resistant to change; be patient with them, and keep challenging them to look at the facts themselves. It’s easy to get discouraged when they don’t believe us, but this is where we must gather ourselves and have patience. Remember how you acted before you came to understand? I surely remember my attitude. It was one of scoffing mockery. But I continued to listen, and by continuing to listen, I came to understand the truth.”
