U.K. Banks Pledge Greater Fairness to Clients in Code, BBA Says

U.K. banks have pledged to lend more responsibly and treat customers facing financial difficulties ``fairly'' under the terms of an updated industry code of conduct. .............This has taken ten years and a crisis. Would they still be treating us all like mugs, had this not happened? You betcha!!!

  • Paper Tiger Code Of Conduct. It deliberately uses vague words to allow banks a lot of leeway to do exactly whatever they want.

  • What’s the quid pro quo? The BoE and Treasury will help out the banks if the banks put out this ‘code’ to show that the government can influence them to behave ‘responsibly’ towards the public?
