Scathing comments from Europe’s most consistent US equity manager

Fed policy is 'hopeless’ says top US equity manager Mouté

As the US dollar hit an all time low against the euro one of the best performing US equity managers available in Europe, AAA-rated François Mouté, has laid into the US authorities. ‘The way Bernanke is running the country’s economy is disappointing,’ he says. ‘What is happening to the US dollar is a testimony to how wrong Bernanke has been.’

  • Reason being
    1) As most of these Asset backed securities are Adjustable Rate Mortgages so when the FED reduces interest rate the return on them also falls
Hence no one wants to buy them

    2) its not lack of liquidity in the market its the lack of lending which is the problem.
WOuld you lend to someone who you know could go bust.

    3) Re valuation of asset values. Happens every so often. Hence valuation of companies is going down to level.
Remember tge DOW was around 7000 a few years ago and reached 14000 end of last year.
If stock market is the barometer for the economy, the US economy did not go up 100%.

    and many more…

  • The dollar weakness and making a mess of the economy is a trait that both Bush Presidents , seem to get themselves into. Reason is because , both George Bush Sr. and Jr. , can not see the writing on the wall – “The Economy Stupid ” and try to help the struggling American people , instead of playing GI Joe ,in Iraq. What George Bush should do is find a way out of this mess that happened under his watch and fix it . He should have a high level meeting with Economist from all over the U.S., to discuss a better solution to Bush’s $145 billion stimulus package , thinking that people spending money at Walmart , buying crap that they could do without and made in China , will make the American people feeling better – is not the answer. He should really back the US Economy and the US $ dollar , quicky correcting the problem and make American proud of who we are.
