Darling’s Fundamentals…. ( which no doubt he’ll be kicked in some time soon )

Why Darling is losing on three fronts

When politicians start delivering assurances that "economic fundamentals are sound", it's time to be concerned.

  • “In short, the Chancellor’s reassurance was meaningless and indeed misleading.”

Good for you Mr Durrant. Truthful words have so much meaning. Indeed they do.

Darling’s words have none. Indeed they don’t.

  • Got to admit I’m a bit of a Radio 4 listener on the way to work. It seems as though every member of the Labour party is briefed to wheel out the line, “economic fundamentals are sound…low inflation, blah blah blah”.

The truth of the matter is that Brown sailed across some of the most benign and artificially stimulated waters of all chancellors (high migration, excess liquidity and its partners in crime; HPI and consumer debt). I fear Darling’s appointment is little more than a ruse by the leader of the Labour party to make himself (Brown) look better than he is/was.
