Mr Rt Hon Pig, Mr Trough…..Mr Trough, Mr Rt Hon Pig

Revealed: 'MPs' buy-to-let scheme funded by the taxpayer'

The Commons authorities faced fresh calls for reform in MPs' expenses yesterday after a Mail on Sunday investigation showed how some use the system to build up valuable property portfolios. A loophole in the rules means they can benefit from what one privately described as an "MPs' buy-to-let scheme funded by the taxpayer".

  • Wow. That’s why buy to let has done so well under this government! This is exactly why the corn laws were abolished – they were serving the interests of MPs to the detriment of wider society.

It took a civil war to overthrow the corn laws by the way.

“Tory MPs Sir Nicholas and Lady Ann Winterton claimed £165,000 in “rent” on a London home they had already bought outright.”
    Disgraceful.

The system is a complete sham. If this was a normal operating company with employees situation, the Inland Revenue and Gordon Brown would have shut this down a very long time ago.
An absolute disgrace and then talk about a conflict of interests when it comes to House Prices and policy.
