Fake Wealth get used to it

The next bubble: Priming the markets for tomorrow's big crash

"That the Internet and housing hyperinflations transpired within a period of ten years, each creating trillions of dollars in fake wealth, is, I believe, only the beginning. There will and must be many more such booms, for without them the economy of the United States can no longer function. The bubble cycle has replaced the business cycle." Great article, recons the next bubble is alt energy.

    Interesting article in 2 ways.

    1. It shows the unsustainability of our civilization
    2. How humans always extrapolate the current trends to infinity. EG A continuous bubble economy forever.

As I said in a previous post.

IMHO there are 2 fundamental problems with civilization
    1. Corruption and fraud in political/financial/media/corportate sector (power structure)
    2. Resouce issues with peak oil/food/water/population

The Lungold/Calleman interpretation of the Mayan calendar says we are currently in the phase where ethics finally overcomes power.
The destruction phase is called the “fifth night” and last for about 1 year with a midpoint of May this year.

Over the next 6 months I think we will see the power structure exposed for what they really are.
The primary driver for this unmasking is the internet. We are a part of this process
This should eventually lead to the solutions for problem 1.

Problem 2. however is much more serious and cannot be overcome by ethics.
Ethics needs to be replaced by co-creation. There is no need to worry about problem 2. just yet. Lungold/Calleman’s model doesn’t schedule this “fifth night” until summer 2011

Calleman’s model is setting up another revolution as big as the internet/industrial ones. I had originally thought it would be alt energy, but maybe it will be along the lines of global consciousness (which would include alt energy and a load of other amazing stuff)

Watch these 2 videos before slagging me off without any argument or real thinking.

  • @S2R true that this author tries to extrapolate based on only two bubbles. However, I like the attempt to look beyond this bubble which will need another 4-5 years to unwind. The models you mention call for a revolution in consciousness which is always hard to imagine or accept. Easier to imagine more of what I already know.

    Will watch those videos.

  • Beautiful article. I loved it.

“In reality, credit pollutants pose the same kind of threat to our economy as chemical toxins do to our environment. Like their chemical counterparts, they tend to concentrate in the weakest and most vulnerable parts of the financial system, and that’s where the toxic effects show up first: the subprime mortgage market collapse is essentially the Love Canal of our ongoing risk-pollution disaster.”

    We have discussed Bartlett before.
Evolution is exponential and most of us have no clue about it.

“Come on STR do you really expect us to watch THREE (count them) hours of video”
Why not. The TV wasn’t very good this evening. We all know who will win master chef.

“can I just continue to wish for a HPC along with most other people”
Wishing is a waste of time. Understanding is everything.

  • Right I watched the first video. Interesting stuff and a good speaker. Cant work out what 260 x 360 day calendars have to do with the stone though. Not sure of his facts which he forces onto the calendar. Like when the solar system emerged or homo sapiens emerged. So there is a bit of forced fitting of data happening I think.

Don’t agree with it being a cult. I consider the definition of a cult to be something that is easy to join but hard leave. He encourages people to think for themselves.

Spiritual calendars are interesting but not something I pursue. To get my spiritual destiny from a calendar as these Mayans apparently did does not seem liberating to me. I don’t believe that the day on which I am born should determine my destiny in life. This is similar to the mentality that leads to the cast system. In this sense the Gregorian calendar liberates people from the tyrany of “destiny”.

Happyrenterz, you didn’t listen to much, the Mayan (apparently), chose which day they became spiritual, as opposed to the actual day they were born. They picked the day that best met their feelings about their lives.

Erm, I quite like the ideas in this video, it does provide an explanation of what’s going on at the moment! At the very least, its a nice fairy tale. At the very most, it charts out the time from now to the end of 2011!! So why not? I’m keen to see if any of it fits. To be honest? If it is wrong, we are foooked as society, because the things this guy predicts are necessary for our survival as a race!

So I want to believe it, and keep an open mind about it, and the predictions can be measured over the coming few years, fingers crossed!

Note that today, we read in newspapers that prozac doesn’t work! Seems very in tune with what he was saying. I like it, have an open mind to it. W

Yeah, I’d agree that bio-fuel is likely to be a bubble, whether or not it suit its purpose.

Ironically as I left Heathrow Monday it was pointed out that one of the Virgn 747’s flying out of Heathrow that day was being tested with bio-fuel. A typical Branson publicity trick.

Has anyone else noticed one key characteristic of bubbles is that the product/service is viewed as a panacea, the next big thing?

Because of this, because the herd mentality and because of the blinkered desire to get rich quick, investors now seem to shirk diversification. This is what puts economies at risk. Those with an addiction to immediate gratification should get the distinction between investment and gambling clear in their minds and learn to frequent casinos instead of investment markets.

  • planning4acrash, lvmreader & happyrenterz,

Thanks for watching the video guys and giving it some thought.

I first saw this in November 2007, after all the economic cycle theories of Kondratieff, Elliott (Prechter), Oswald Spengler and Martin Armstrong all pointed to a massive economic collapse in the next 3-4 years, setting us back to the middle ages or maybe even much further.

I’d never even heard of the Mayan Calendar and 2011-12 until 6 months ago, when several other bloggers dropped it in their posts.
It is the internet that is the key tool to overcome the power structure. We are a part of the process whether we realize it or not.

It takes a brave person to stand up and say, “Hey guys, maybe things are different to what we thought” and risk be labelled as a conspiracy theorist or crackpot. More and more people are speaking out and putting their neck on the line .

Charlie Sheen revealed during an Alex Jones interview that he questions the “official story” concerning the September 11, 2001 attacks.
    See wiki http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Charlie_Sheen
His character has been anialated by the mainstream media. But when it comes to examining the facts there is silence.

Ron Paul is getting virtually no mainstream media attention.

    http://thecrossedpond.com/?p=2250
The fourth quarter is historically the lowest quarter for fundraising in the primaries. And by my count, Ron looks to exceed any other Republican’s haul for any quarter this season (for primary money). Yesterday was the biggest single-day haul (they say) in the history of the primary process, certainly for the GOP. And all of this in the Republican party. Ron Paul is now arguably the most successful GOP fundraiser in Presidential primary history—that’s not even debatable when return for investment or name ID is factored in. By all rights, this should be (is!) the biggest story in the Republican primary this year short of who actually wins the damn thing, and even then it’s close.

The US election is pivotal in this change process, as any candidate who is receiving massive media attention is clearly supporting the existing corrupt power structure. Lets hope the US bloggers/public can turn this around in the next 8 months.

  • Watched these videos before and came to the conclusion its a clever story and just an interpretation of a stones carving.

Why oh why do people believe that another civilization had the power to forsee the future ? what makes them greater than Time and The Universe itself ? Nothing.

It seems to be a human trait to always look for some explanation as to why and when instead of looking within.

Read this extract from a Mayan Sacrifice

So Xbalanque dismembered his twin and cut out his heart. Then he started dancing and commanded Hunahpu to get up and join him. And when Hunahpu got up as good as new, the Lords of Death were caught up in a frenzy of delight.
“Now do us!” they cried. And so the Twins sacrificed the two foremost of the Lords of Death. Only they didn’t bring them back to life. !!

    Wow, what a brainy bunch.

  • Willhavetosee,

“i watched both videos and was with it till he got to the meeting the aliens in 2007 and time travel plus teleportation!.”

I agree that these are the hardest bits to take in

I won’t comment on aliens but teleportation exists at the sub-atomic level
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Teleportation
“Until recently, scientists had been able to transport only light or single atoms over short distances (millimeters). However, it was reported in October 2006 in the weekly science magazine Nature [4] that Professor Eugene Polzik and his team at the Niels Bohr Institute at Copenhagen University in Denmark have made a breakthrough in the field.[5] [6] Their experiment involved the transportation of information from a weak light beam to a macroscopic atomic object containing thousands of billions of atoms, located half a meter away. The technique involved the use of quantum entanglement, quantum measurement and quantum feedback.”

Regarding Time travel. This already exists too. Satellites orbiting the Earth have to have their internal clocks regularly adjusted as their time slows down.
This was all proven in Einstein’s theory of relativity.

Watch the discovery Discovery documentary on Ronald Mallett (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ronald_Mallett)
He has scientific peer support in his paper to build the first time machine (although it will only be sending sub-atomic particles back into the past).
    http://video.google.co.uk/videoplay?docid=-3926114811829147635 (5 parts)

Please Note: Ian Lungold made this video in 2004 and can only speculate on how events will play out.

IMHO the 2 destruction phases in 2008 and 2011 will be of reality.

    1. 2008 – destruction of the reality of how our governments/banks/media/corportations work (IE corruption and fraud uncovered)
    2. 2011 – destruction of the reality of religion and who we really are. It will be all metaphysical stuff. Quantum physics will meet spirituality.

Remember evolution is exponential. So in the final stages, when the line goes vertical, things that are only 3 years away are impossibe to predict.

  • @ Bouncing Czech I can see why he proposes alternative energy. Irrational legislation favouring biofuels is already in place (causing world wide food inflation and hunger) and for wind energy etc. There is already an explosion of little hi tech firms working on solar energy in California and the first wave of bubble like investing in these has already happened. And then there is the global warming dogma with Al Gore et al who are darlings on the media and Green ethical movements. I am not against Green but I believe that the climate has never been stable and the debate as to the causes of global warming are no longer open for debate. So this is now a dogma.

Those things are in place for this to be a bubble. The next will be finance. The current debt crisis needs to unwind a bit more for alternative energy really to take off. We need to know where all the mortgage dead bodies are before investors lose some fear.

  • Debtfree,

“Why oh why do people believe that another civilization had the power to forsee the future ? what makes them greater than Time and The Universe itself ?”

I don’t think the Maya did think they had the power to forsee the future. They just knew their place in the evolutionary process.

Regarding the sacrifice stuff here is a quote from an article about Mel Gibsons film Apocalypto:
“During the Q&A, Gibson shared “I just wanna draw the parallels. I just looked at it, and thought, we display that stuff here. I don’t wanna be a doomsayer, but the Mayan calendar ends in 2012,” he said, musing with a grin, “So have fun!” It’s quite clear that certain characters in the film could be compared to various world leaders, as the Mayan city is run by self-righteous men convinced they are doing the will of the gods. There’s even a parallel to the grizzly sacrifice scene, Gibson shared Saturday night, “What’s human sacrifice if not sending a bunch of kids off to Iraq for no reason?””

“It seems to be a human trait to always look for some explanation as to why and when instead of looking within.”

Looking within is exactly what the video is about.
It is about the evolution of consciousness.
If consciousness is defined as “the awareness and being aware” then you can’t get any closer to soul searching than this.

  • @ sold 2 rent

“They just knew their place in the evolutionary process.”

This is simply an opinion you have based on scant evidence since the culture has been destroyed and we can’t interview them. There are a few shamans left in Guatemala and they are probably have a better sense of their place in their world than the average Westerner. But this is true for almost all ancient people. The Mayans just seem a bit more brutal than most. You miss the point by comparing human sacrifice with sending men to war. Human sacrifice shows the cruelty and disrespect for the individual that their belief system had. Presumably the sacrifices were performed in public or were known to the public. So they would have been an agent of oppression and fear. Or was it only a particular class of people who were sacrificed based on the astrological identity of the victim based on one of these calendars? planning4acrash said I had not listened right but the video quite clearly says that the personal calendar Tzolkin? was used to give your name based on the day you were born. The thinking being that you picked your day of birth, presumably as part of a reincarnation belief. I am not against belief in rebirth (I practice the teachings of Buddha myself) but I object to this deterministic view of life. Where the process’ of the universe are considered the most important factors to a human life. I believe that animistic and ethnic religions of all forms do this; try to subdue the individual under and oppressive world/universe view. That is why it is ok to do human sacrifice for the greater good. Sending men to war is also touted as for the greater good but it has no where near the ability to inspire terror as random human sacrifice.

What you think about grows stronger in your mind. I suggest that thinking about the calendars of this extinct society just lead to confusion, as you have no way of verifying or refuting your conclusions with the people who kept this belief system alive. There are undoubtedly factors in the universe that effect our lives but why focus on these rather than the choices you yourself have? What you think about grows stronger in your mind. If you think constantly of your place in evolution that is all you become, a passive observer to this evolution instead of growing as a human being. So to sum up, don’t study calendars study yourself!

  • Hi S2R1,

In the video, he uses a certain time in our history against the mayan calendar and ties them together. For example, when art was created or man began to think. What if our own history of man is wrong ? would the Mayan explanation of the calendar also have to be rewritten and be out out of sync ?

Transcript from BBC Horizon: The Day We Learned To Think

Henshilwood’s discovery is threatening to revolutionise our understanding of one of humanity’s biggest puzzles. History books may have to be rewritten and long-held theories torn up. Because of what he found one of the great scientific detective stories may finally have been solved: when did our ancestors cease being brute animals and first become truly human? When did we learn to think?

Thanks for your reply and comments.
