The Fed to the rescue

Federal Reserve chairman Ben Bernanke said in a speech Thursday that the central bank is prepared to continue lowering interest rates in order to help keep the economy on track.

  • If Bernanke is as good as his word, then the real value of the American dollar must drop. Perhaps, the Americans don’t care because their national savings rates are so low anyway?

    I have a suspicion that VIs in the square mile will watch Bernanke’s helicopter drops and demand the same treatment for us as well. If the Federal Reserve defended its currency, as it is supposed to, would there be so many calls for interest cuts in this country as well?
