The piggy bank is emprty!

Stores bank on last minute spree.

Yesterday footfall for christmas was near 6% down and today BBC news mentioned it had been a dissapointing Saturday! Its bleak guys be under no illusion money has run out. Banks are very worried they have lent too much to too many people that are unable to pay money back....so credit has been restricted. Most are worried about the future and day after day its more gloom. The big "R" word is getting mentioned more every day. Its time to batten down the hatches and wait for the house market to collapse....because as sure as night follows day it will!

  • Depressing isn’t it? When will the bankers/uber-rich/establishment be happy? Presumably if every single person in this country owed £100k they’d still be at us to spend, spend, spend, more, more, MORE!!! As someone who lives within his means I look forward to this grotesque consumerist orgy coming to an end. I look forward to people having something more to think about than their latest (worthless) purchase. I look forward to people having to ‘make do and mend’ rather than just buying new at the drop of a hat.

Society in this country has sat on it’s perch and been fattened up for market like a bunch of Christmas turkeys while our taxes, rights, hopes, dreams, lives are squandered. It’s shocking the state we’ve allowed ourselves to get into.

  • Sold My Soul To The Never Never Never says:

Wiltshire – I agree wholeheartedly – the only problem I fear is that when the Trading Statements come out in January is that everybody shopped on the internet (using their plastic) and everything will be find and dandy. (This is more or less what happened last year). I find it obscene that the retailers were bleating a couple of days before the interest rate decision was announced this month and a cut was made.

If my fears are proved wrong then I shall be a lot happier.
