Following on from this – does anyone remember Pensions A Day – 6/4/06 when the government mooted that residential and BTL properties could be put into a SIPP and everyone was getting excited until GB pulled the plug at the eleventh hour to not allow direct investment. I think I remember this giving the Housing Market a bit of momentum at the time.

Can you just imagine the impact this would be starting to have if it had been allowed to happen!!!

“so that it can carry out an emergency sale of some property to free up cash”

Nevermind they can look forward to a bumper year in 2008 to make up for it … Not.
So they’ve lost all that money and the real stuff hasnt even started yet.
Glad I don’t have any ‘investments’ of that kind.

‘poor punters’ !?! Any person with half a brain could have seen the market topping out a year ago. The same way I lost money in the dot com crash, these shamateur investors haven’t a clue what they’re doing and yet think it’s a one way bet with housing. A valuable lesson and the same lesson I now heed when I buy and sell equities – do some serious research before handing over hard-earned cash.
