UK Manufacturing grew at its fastest pace in three years in July

Manufacturers shrug off rate rises

UK manufacturing grew at its fastest pace in three years during July shrugging off previous interest rate rises. The MPC will be very wary of the fact that producers are increasing prices sharply to offset the soaring cost of raw materials.

Wow, $78 oil, this and mortgage lending up, I’d put money on an August rise in IR’s. Looks like the high speed juggernaut will come off the road without some more breaking.

If the Bank does not put up interest rates in August then they will have made their second major faux pas of a summer rate decision.

The will also have very embarassingly shown that a couple of apparent slow signs in August (summer hols – surprise, surprise) actually influence their policy decisions….!!! Jeez.

I mean what is the logic? Inflation is everywhere. Growth (properly named temperature) is high. Debt problems are everywhere.

Do they truely see a bit of sunshine and think. Oh to hell with it until September. Actually that is probably what everybody else is doing . so why not them?
