History: Germany 1923 – So the printing presses ran, and once they began to run, they were hard to stop.

The German Hyperinflation 1923

In interesting article about Germany 1923, everyone who was in a position of authority to try and do something were basically in denial. In life, we all need to face up to problems, not deny them. The longer you leave it, the worse it usually gets.

  • “…So the printing presses ran, and once they began to run, they were hard to stop…”

This seems to be what David Smith is advocating. Oh dear oh dear oh dear…….

  • “a sobering tail”? How does a tail sober you up exactly?

Here’s a much better excerpt from the tale:

The publisher Leopold Ullstein wrote: “People just didn’t understand what was happening. All the economic theory they had been taught didn’t provide for the phenomenon. There was a feeling of utter dependence on anonymous powers — almost as a primitive people believed in magic — that somebody must be in the know, and that this small group of ‘somebodies’ must be a conspiracy.”

    Eeek, that sounds familiar.

  • Yes Paul it does sound familiar. If we experience a late 1920’s Germany meltdown, what will the UK be like 5-10 years after that? Superstitious or not, some group will take the blame. The question is who, when and to what extent?
