This is how the Poles see the UK

Why would you leave a place like Wroclaw?

This is interesting reading, especially the testimonies after the article. The views and ambitions of immigrant Poles and how they see our country.

  • If the Poles dont want it I m sure lots of Germans will take it. On a serious note I was in Poland two years ago. I got talking to a stonemason. He told me he was on £1.50 an hour. Another reason the Poles are leaving is that generally you have to be a nutter who is paranoid about foreign threats to your country to get elected to power as well as being not too good at keeping the infrastructure in good shape. It also helps if you dont pay much in pensions and social benefits. Actually the Poles should feel right at home on that score.

Wroclaw was Breslau before 1945 and by all accounts a well run place ( not so good for Jews though) The Russians trashed it and sent any survivors off to Siberia. The Poles there are mostly from Lvov aka Lemberg which is now in the Ukraine. A fair number of Germans left the city just in time to be incinerated by the RAF in Dresden.

If theres a crash it could be a good place to pick up property as it’s got a lot of multi-national companies especially in IT there. The Germans built to last – no PFI for them.

This is the best quote from the article –

One man complained to Glijerski that it was unfair that he, as a Pole, had such a plum job while the British man’s wife was unemployed. “He asked me how this could be the case. And because I have a masters in economics I was able to explain it to him.”
