Go Tesco!!

Tesco muscles in on estate agent's patch

Agents will die by the same weapon they have always used... lack of regulation! Sellers will be able to list their homes on a Tesco website for a one-off fee of about £200 – dramatically undercutting estate agents who charge £3,500 for an average £200,000 house. They will be able to upload up to 20 pictures of their property and arrange viewing dates with buyers directly. The site also offers details about local schools and amenities – and gives pin-sharp aerial views of locations

Much as I detest Tesco this will be fun to watch. Don’t underestimate the ability of the various EA representative bodies to cause Tesco some real agro here though.

  • Well i have seen what century 21 can do in the USA and although its Tescos do we really have sympathy for any of the EA, after all why shouldnt they be part of the ” New Dynamic” world that most of us seem to face nowadays, i have always thought why does it cost more to sell a £500000 home to a £200000 one, the answer of course is it doesnt, each should have a fixed fee

Well done Tesco. I hope their business model for this enterprise can survive the political and media onslaught that will follow this announcement. Part of me wonders whether this will cause our rotten politicians to introduce regulation at last.

You have to do the viewings and negotitae with the buyers so it’s not really the same “service” I guess.

More like selling it yourself and gettings advertising and some boards to put up.
