A review of a new book predicting a new golden age lies ahead.
Unfortunately we have to go through a depression and revolution to get there.

I read this book as well, though in Japanese. About 12 years ago, I guress. The author was insisting the imminent great depression, the one bigger than 1929’s, wasn’t he? The main rationale behind his theory was the widenining wealth gap between the rich and poor, which cannot sound truer than now.

  • JU, I think you might be referring to Batra 1970’s book called “The Downfall of Capitalism and Communism”.

    One down, one to go.

In this current book “The New golden Age”, he concludes:
All of the symptoms that I expected to see before the start of an anti-acquisitive rebellion are now here. I anticipated many social and economic cancers, such as abysmal wages, growing poverty, rising homelessness, educational decline, family breakdown and loose morals. They are all here, so revolution cannot be very far away.

Sorry for getting the book wrong. But the widening gap theory still holds good. As mentioned before, the aftermath of the full scale property meltdown in the UK must be simply too horrendous to think about, could well be much worse than the US. As this property bubble has kept boosting for the last 11 years here, while its US counterpart started to boost later and collapsed earlier. 2007 will be remembered the the begining of the genuine bloodbath in the UK history.
