BBC News: Charity sees surge in debt cases

Charity Citizens Advice has advised 1.4 million people in debt difficulty during the past year, an 11% increase on the previous twelve months.

The clue meter is reading zero here, but thats usual from Blairs Broadcasting corporation.

Maybe the BOE's motto should be "You have to be cruel to be kind", popping the dream of endless growth at least will make the crash a little less severe.

Agreed. This story does seem like it's been written with a particular angle in mind. Either that or it's just lazily written.

The article mentions several types of liability recorded by CA, i.e. "People struggling with mortgages, credit card, council tax and utility bills made up the bulk of enquiries". Yet it only bothers to mention that the BoE is considered likely to raise interest rates at the next MPC vote.

You'd think that the council tax rises constantly above inflation, fuel/energy price rises, and credit culture might also be worth a mention.
