House sales down

Firstrung: House sales down 6.6 percent in September - NAEA

The property market in September slowed after a phenomenally strong August according to the National Association of Estate Agents (NAEA) today. Buyers and sellers on estate agents books\' were down from levels reported last month and marginally less than the same period last year, despite this sales were encouragingly up from September 2005.

If such reports are deliberately meant to dis-inform the public and influence the BoE - thus luring people into buying to generate EA commission, isn't that heading down the road of obtaining money by deception - albeit very, very indirectly?

Then again, I can't honestly believe that this is merely an attempt to influence the BoE or deceive potential buyers. It seems utterly fantastic to think that it could ever be a realistic outcome. If it's false then surely there woud be hoards of people clambering to disprove their figures?
