Councils get green light to fleece us with more taxes

BBC: Councils to get fresh law powers

Town hall pensions and perks are guaranteed by extra tax raising powers. Council tax payers have to struggle and have more stupid laws to worry about in return.

The last time I went in to the council to pay my council tax bill (and yes, I did make up 23.90 of it in small change as I would encourage everyone to do), as I handed over the last few pennies I remarked to them with a completely straight face

"don't fritter and waste it on councillor pension holidays and committee luncheons."

Ha ha! Excellent
I had an excellent example of council cooperation recently. I had to get an enforcement notice served against my neighbour because all his guttering is broken and leaks onto my roof keeping me awake at night if it is raining. Like Chinese water torture. They duly sent around the enforcement officer, a shambling grubby little man in a cheap suit with a greasy comb over. The outcome, is they have given my neighbour another 14 week extension to repair his roof (the second extension) but they have served me with an enforcment notice because one of my gutters is dripping a bit of water into the driveway. Can u Adam n Eve it! Makes me laugh how the Town hall in reigate is absolutely immaculate having been totally restored with our money. Tossers!
