UK Housing market still defies all logic!

BBC: Mortgage lending jumps in August

Mortgage lending is still booming, according to figures published by the Council of Mortgage Lenders (CML).
In August, total new lending hit a fresh record of 32.7bn, 7% up on July and 21% higher than a year ago.

And the Bank of England last month reported that mortgage approvals, a very good indicator of near term trends, were at their highest level of the year so far and 24% higher than at the same time a year earlier.

It always seems that any pro-market news is trumpeted with the loudest possible fanfare by the state funded British Brainwashing Corporation. This Prehistoric Dinosaur of an organisation paid for by me and you has done more than its fair share to keep the market stoked up with its unbiased(tongue in cheek) over optimistic house price commentary and daft property dominated programme schedules. People wouldn't mind so much if it was funded just the same way as most normal orgainisations but in this case you're sent to prison if you refuse to fund it. Doesn't sound like a democracy to me. Can you imagine if a representative of a satellite channel knocked on your door and said by the way it's six months in Ford Open Prison if you don't subscribe to us. To add insult to injury this mediaeval tax is constantly being put up by inflation busting increases. How much more of this obscene gravy train do we have to witness?

A huge and growing proportion of this increased lending is re-mortgaging largely by over-indebted people lokking around for ways to pay off their credit card and other unsecured debts, and also looking for a cheaper mortgage than their existing one.

Don't be fooled, it's got nothing to do with increased house sales or a "strong housing market" whatever way the BBC likes to spin it.

I heard rumble that the next rise could be in the region of 30 a year. The BBC wanted about 180 a year but it may end up being about 160. It's totally outrageous being forced to pay for the Labour Party propoganda machine.

I did without TV as an experiment a few years ago and it was fine. I managed for about a year before my partner became pregnant and she wanted something to do while getting large! If the license fee goes up to 160 I'm going to get rid of it again - on principle!

Is there an estate agent link on the BBC website? I haven't found it yet, I'm sure it must be there....

I wouldn't mind so much if it was independent but it clearly isn't.

Remember how many top bods were given the hoof after the Gilligan report ... which turned out to be completely true despite no criminal charges being made against Tony Blair?

The BBC is a propoganda machine for a war criminal party.

I don't see SKY or the other channels saying anything about it.

As much as I can see the problems with the BBC, I think the last thing we need is Rupert and his chums running the news services like do in the states.

The BBC panders to the british middle class, and to most people it comes across as unbiased as other news channels like skynews seem to lack quality, presentation, and seem to pander to a lot the people they seem to report on.

yeah, while it's a tax. try watching fox news for ten minutes.

Actually the BBC will eventually disappear a new Web service is starting to boom where independant people can now create their own TV stations easily and affordably with a small amount of kit.

This is why this Dinasour will eventually disappear, not under this Government but the next to come, the BBC is full of arrogant loony lefties that think they are owed a living by the taxpayer.

I have been without a TV for coming up to 3 years and it's great. You can start to live life when your brain isn't being turned to mush by "celebrity brother island location location location.."

Highly recommended
