Ford on the way out?

BBC News: Ford 'wants to cut 75,000 jobs'

Ford wants to cut more than 75,000 jobs, its main US union has said.

The carmaker, which posted a $123m (66.5m) loss in the second quarter of 2006, needs to cut costs as it tries to turn itself around.

It is not yet known whether the latest Ford job cuts will be restricted to the US or include its overseas operations.

Don't think it reallty effects us. we don't make cars, most the ford cars made in the UK are the smaller type and there's a big demand for ford cars in the uk - something about being here for so long that most people consider them british.

also honda and toyota make cars here, and they're the one either bucking the trend or providing the competition that is causing ford, gm and most the other car makers grief.
