When renting is a better idea

When renting is a better idea

The continuing positive propaganda about buying a home can be so incessant that it can be hard to accept there are times when renting a property is a better option than buying one...

  • We are renting at the moment. We are waiting for the crash!! My rent currently costs £300 less than a £100k mortgage, so I’m managing to save a little through not buying. Don’t be a sheep and follow all the rest taking out large unsustainable mortgages. Just say no – the crash will happen and when it does you will save much more that you ever spent on rent when you pick up a repossession!! Governments typically dump on their citizens that is why the media and so many agencies keep telling us to buy. Don’t believe it!! As soon as all of the suckers jump onto the bandwagon this is when the chickens will come hope to roost. Could it be that the latest interest rate rise is just the start of the beginning of the end for crazy house prices?

  • We rent too, although for the second time in as many years we have fallen for amature landlords such as that idiotic woman on the BBC. The fist landlord decided to sell because they were having a baby and the returns on the property were not good enough. The second has personal reasons, as I was told today. I’m starting to think that as well as the estate agency performing credit checks on me, I will perform credit checks and business background checks on the landlord.

Renting is better, if you don’t rent from one of the idiots who has bought a property to rent without looking at the business fundamentals.

    Argggggg rant over.

This has been recycled yet again – on 21 May I posted the following comment when the very same article appeared:-

“I’m sure we’ve seen this article before, quite recently, although must be a re-hash as the date is last week – I believe I commented before that their attitude remains one of ‘Renting is a great idea – if you don’t earn much, your job / relationship isn’t secure, you haven’t saved the deposit…’ In other words, if you are one of life’s unfortunates, who just isn’t up to owning…”

Don’t these lazy b*st*rds even have the imagination to make up their own rubbish??
