Halifax doing their bit to talk up interest rates

The Times: City fears that house price surge will lead to higher rates

The Halifax says that annual house price inflation has now risen to 8 per cent, its highest level in 13 months. With a rekindling of the house price boom having been a persistent worry among MPC members, the Halifax report was seen as badly denting prospects for further cuts in rates, even though its strength is far in excess of that shown by other housing market data.

Has anyone else noticed the very subtle change in sentiment by the VIs over the last weeks or two? The Halifax, Knight Frank, et al are now saying that they don't expect the new 'rally/boom' to continue through the year and weakness will creep into the market. I think they've over-egged the spin and are now in danger of reaping IR rises as a result. Pouring a little cold water on the fire in an effort to pre-empt a rise.

let's just hope the fire really takes hold and IRs take a nice big step upwards!

Haha, spot on Tyrellcorporation and Fair_deal! The further this market rises the greater a sense of impending doom I get for it.
