Victor_Broom
I just got an error when I tried to change my sig. [#10211] You may only use up to lines of text in your signature. Is this normal?
Scunnered
The user information to the right of the posts is too wide: with my browser at the usual size it takes up almost 25% of the width of the page. It's much wider than it needs to be to accommodate the actual information which it contains. I find the "1", "2", "3", ... buttons on the forum overview pages extremely obtrusive. The thing which displays attached images when you click on them appears to be implemented in Flash: it's very slow and doesn't add anything useful. Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
Too much scrolling is required. I think you should go back to the old design, then move across to this one, if you need to, after you've improved usability after carrying out all the essential usability testing and optimised the sites usability. This new layout is unusable.
RDW
Why do I have to re stretch the page every time I change page. How do I go to 'next unread post', ?
Webmaster
We use Invision Powerboard for our forum software and we try to keep up to date with the latest released version both for security reasons and functionality. We have always upgraded to the latest version, the only difference this time is that it is a bigger upgrade than usual moving from version 2.something to version 3 . The forums skin is just the default one for now. This isn't a design choice by us, it's just what comes with the package. There is a new skin that has been developed by the Invision community (not us) which is designed to look very closely like the old forum skin although not exactly. It hasn't been released yet as a download but as soon as it is then we will add it to the site and you will then be able to choose to use that one or the current one by selecting in the bottom left hand corner of the screen. This is where the Lo-Fi skin can also be found for those of you wanting to use that one. If you want to check out what the 'new style old skin' will look like then head over to http://community.invisionpower.com/ and then select "IP.Board Classic Blue" in the bottom left hand corner of the screen. deeplyblue
I quite like the new look (though I'm not seeing any blue on blue - could that be because I use Firefox?), but there's one big problem for me, which I hope is a transition issue. I notice that quoted material in this thread (which is obviously all <newskin>) looks fine, but all the quoted material from older threads has lost its "boxed" status - in fact there's no visual clue at all as to when quoted material ends, and new contribution starts. I hope this can be retro-fitted or it will render popular or elderly threads almost impossible to follow. db
Charlie The Tramp Returns
At my age with a possibility of dementia ready to call all these changes do not help. Simplicity for me is the order of the day, the more simple, the greater help for us the older Baby Boomers.
Nomadd
Why do I have to re stretch the page every time I change page. How do I go to 'next unread post', ? +1 Seems I have to keep pressing the arrows button to go back to "wide" mode on every page refresh. And, as others have pointed out, the background colours make the text unreadable. Please, go back to white. Also, has the text font got smaller? Even on the white background of this input box the text is still hard to read. Think I'll give HPC a miss for a few days until this lot is sorted. Sorry, but my 46 year old eyes can't deal with it in it's present form. Nomadd

The previous forum's design and functionality was far superior in many different ways. Ciao! Edited October 1, 2009 by gruffydd
dawid
Hello Guys, Just wanted to let you know that we have improved the search mechanism. Search function uses Sphinx search engine now as opposed to a traditional search. Sphinx makes the searches more efficient and significantly removes the load from the database which should speed the site up. Regards, Dawid
qska
Hi, The Lo Fi version of the site is gone! It's a scandal, my Nokia N95 effectively can't read the forum anymore... The browser just quits after downloading some 600kb of html! Not to mention it was by far the quickest and most readable skin of all, most suitable for browsing at work etc!!!! HEEEEELP! erranta
Techie note After posting a new topic this .am I couldn't get the "Full Edit" button to work in the "Edit" menu to add summat else. Cheers PS Swop the outer edges to pastel blu and keep posting area White! Palatino is a great font to use if available too! Also the headings of the Topics/new threads on main page menus need capital/bold font to stand out more in my view! Si_
I second the wish for the lo fi version. As said by a poster above, it is the best skin for browsing at work Absolutely - I ONLY use the lo-fi version - it is more "work safe" as it just looks like a bit of work rather than an online forum. It is also lightweight on the phone. This hi-fi version is around 200-300kb per page whereas the lo-fi version is a few k. Bring back lo-fi please a I cannot get my daily jolt of hpc Si

This new layout is unusable. Agree - and, as others have said, far too much white space, font too small, I'm going to get rsi from the scrolling at this rate. Useability is very poor compared to old layout. People with vision problems, dyslexia and other issues are not going to be able to use the site at all now. R K
It's totally unuseavble. It has taken me 2 minutes just opening this thread. The text I type is delayed before appeareing onscreen so I can't see what I'mtyping. I get 5 posts on the creen at a time with the rigtht hand end off the screen so nothing is presented in a borwsable format. The colours ar eth least of the problems. It's unusuable for me. Whatever you've done you've broken it. I'm afraid to say I can niether post (if it takes solong) or reaed what is written elsewhere since there are these huge delays getting the screens back. It's the usual nonsesne of a solution lookinf for a problem which didn't exist and leaving the users with a useless product. I think you're mad. Webmaster
Your PMs (Personal Messages) should hopefully be coming back in a day or so. There is a rebuild tool that we are running when the forum is not so busy that should convert the old messages into the new format.

Guest Dizzy Rash Call
I've sent quite a few posts which haven't appeared in the thread (no great loss to literal world), it does get a little annoying though. I'm using Vista and Firefox 3.0.14.
