Not Long Now
http://www.londonstockexchange.com/en-gb/p...rue&ns=anglAny news? I can't find any... The hedgies are still short ANGL, just click "news" for details. 100% deposits guarantee, anyone? I keep hearing bad rumours about Ireland, without seeing much firm evidence at the moment. I guess this could be some evidence of the beggining of the end for their economy (and the end of Scottish independence plans at the same time...but I guess that's a different story). Wimbledon88
Funnily enough, I was just thinking today we haven't had a bank crash for a while. Surely the time is ripe for a new wave of crashes - and I think Ireland is the perfect place for it to happen...

The hedgies are still short ANGL, just click "news" for details. 100% deposits guarantee, anyone? Thats it, I have just closed my Anglo Irish account and transferred the remaining minimum £5K to the Natwest. Having lost £30K on shares in the last 6 months protecting capital is the way forward for me....sod the interest at 2%.

Not Long Now
Have you heard any Irish news lately. It isn't positive to put it mildly. Sorry. Don't really follow it that closely to be honest....I would have thought we would have heard a bit more in the UK about their problems....but I guess we have enough issues of our own. Any linkys? Deckard
ANGL was down 40% the day before the deposit guarantee was introduced, and it would have gone down if it wasn't for that, no doubt. Now it's down 30% and it doesn't even make the headlines? mmmmm .... very fishy IMO Edited December 4, 2008 by VoteWithYourFeet
geezer466
Will the Post Office and by definition all its card accounts be toast if this bank goes tits up? That won't suit Dear Leader will it? Maybe we will have to bail it out..........
Guest Mr Parry
This might show just how much the Euro(zone) can absorb before it starts a chain reaction.
UKguy1979
I told my mum to close her account a few weeks ago. Its not about interest now but protecting your capital. The fact that you would have to claim from Ireland, they might say "we dont have any money in the kitty to pay the British".
BXLONDONMAN
This might show just how much the Euro(zone) can absorb before it starts a chain reaction. only time will tell no country in the euro zone will go under like iceland for a long while. ,,,,,euro zone dare i say it, is too big to fall...
