Sad for the worker and his family but what would Gordon and Alistair do to get a headline like this in the UK.

Apparently the day after Thanksgiving is the biggest shopping day in the US and called "Black Friday" because it takes the retailers into the black for the rest of the year.

New York's largest grocery workers union on Friday urged federal, state and local authorities to investigate what it called "Wal-Mart's failure to provide a safe workplace."

"This incident was avoidable," said Bruce Both, president of United Food and Commercial Workers Union Local 1500. "Where were the safety barriers? Where was security? ... This is not just tragic; it rises to a level of blatant irresponsibility by Wal-Mart."

I wouldn't be at all surprised if this was a load of ******** to try to project an image of pent up demand by gaining a few column inches.

70% off draws the herd

Notice it is Wal_mart(ASDA)/Toys r Us leading the 'huge' reductions.

But what is the motive behind these "Global" chains who are offering this?

With their massive buying power -

Putting 'indies' out of business in every town/City they are in, who can't hope to compete?

Killing off last vestiges of competition?

Creating the new 'Gums' of the old commie Russian era?
