the anti krust
Many thanks Tommyboy. Looking good for all those priced out by the madness. I was also thinking how many of those sold prices were inflated by off the wall bids. The lightswitches must have been in overdrive with no or low reserve on many. jonb
OR NOTLot 165 - Last Auction 60k reserve, (bid £56k) sold for £49,500 this auction Just wondering, would the mortgagor have a case for claiming that the bank sold at an undervalue - ie they should have accepted the £56k last time rather than taking £49.5k this time? Bjørn
Many thanks, Tommyboy, for all your hard work in bringing us such an informative and comprehensive dataset. It's much appreciated. As other undoubtedly are, I'm delighted to see so much commonsense and practical realism being shown by those who made good value judgements in that saleroom today. I just wish that the auctioneers here in Scotland would persuade their own putative sellers not to set silly high reserve prices. I know the two big auctioneers in Scotland make easy money by charging fees to those idiots for those unsold lots, but it's so tedious to sit through an auction where lot after lot after lot is withdrawn because the auctioneer will not drop his starting price down to or below a realistic level. SVA Auctions, in particular, has become something of a joke because of this. I've wasted many hours attending the last two or three of their auctions, getting bored as time after time the auctioneer pathetically goes through the motions of trying to get a first bidder at silly high levels and then says that he cannot go any lower and withdraws the lot. Sometimes he takes a few bids off the wall and then says that his highest bid is still too low. It's all such a waste of a day's parking fee that I wonder why we even bother to attend.
