Homes Under The Hammer....

Oddly enough, the shows original producer is my Ex's sister.

I am still on good terms with my ex so I occasionally bump into her.

She is the one also responsible for inflicting upon us the oily and odious David Dickinson.

I can remember her in 2004 outlining the idea of 'Homes under the Hammer' to me and that the chief virtue was that it was going to be cheap. The idea had grown out of the experience gained of setting up and filming in Auction Houses for 'Bargin Hunt'.

At that point I had come to conclusion that the market was becoming unsustainable and had decided that I was going to defer purchase - however this was a minority view and I kept it to myself rather than just get laughed at - so I wished her 'Good Luck'.

as you are on good terms with your ex could you not ask, her if her sister. could put it to the beeb .to do a follow up on buyers who have seen the down side to property market.they might get more vs... for that type of show.....

It's back on today (series repeat from last year) :)

Woman buys 2 bed terrace in Battersea for £420k, decides not to redevelop and sells immediately without touching it for £499k.

The Magic Economy of Property. Do nothing for 5 weeks and make £70,000.

Alternatively work for 7 years in Greggs getting up at 7am and working through until 5pm, 6 days a week for the same money.

If that isn't messed up I dont know what is.

This is why Homes under the Hammer makes me so sick. It is that smugness of both presenters and the big winners they show on every episode.

I am sooooooooo glad this is all over. Please, please, please GB don't ever let this property mania happen again

They need to replace the dead animal program quickly with something less shocking. I'd rather watch elderly people get evicted from their repossessed homes than rooms full of dead cats with scratches up the doors.

As reality tv goes, property porn is fairly enjoyable.

You get to be nosey round houses you'd never get to see normally. And you can laugh aloud at the prices.

But surely now would be the best time to show these types of programs?

Are audiences only interested in seeing people make fortunes for doing nothing?

Houses in auction rooms have arguably fallen in value more than houses on the open market so the principal must remain the same for the show?

i think your right they should show prices falling in the auction rooms..also show some of the people from programs shown before who have lost a few pounds....or all ther money...

audiences will love it even more then seeing people make money....

but i think ther was the hand of the goverment behind this program. to brain wash the mases, go out and buy,buy property only goes up...

they showed some sheepies making money from property....so anybody with a half a brain was saying i could do that its so easy...

look so and so didnt even do anything and made 100k so could i...when it came to ther turn they lost big time...

it reminds me of the 3 card trick merchants...

liar loans, banks handing out loads of money to buy at auction...

scam springs to mind...

maybe thats why they dont want to show the otheir side....

as they had a hand in causing people to lose everthing.....

It will happen again.

Why does it p1ss you off to see someone making money easily?

What's so good about working in Greggs? Life is too short - if you can see an opportunity to make money without slogging away at some silly job, you should take it.

Only fools and horses!

no one should get piss*d off with anybody making money,,,,,honestly,,,the only problem i have had, has been the liar loans.

if someone buys a property and makes, no matter how much on it then its fair..but would they have made much if the market had been fair,,,all the property porn progs on tv also helped push up the market..

if someone has talent why would it piss any off if they made say 5m or 50m a year.. i wish that person the best of luck .

its when the gov or eas or liar loan takers or the banks are pulling scams that i have a problem with.

its not sour grapes from me i did make money on the rising market... i bought and sold and made very good money for doing nothing...a few times..

it was a false market.. housing should be fair after all it is a roof over someones head we are talking about...

in property contacts make you money..they get you deals that only a fool could lose money on...

people should not be priced out by liar loans...

the only thing with the show it never told you if the sold or not..

I suspect they show it as it's cheaper and less hassle than rehiring Kilroy
