Bearfood In The Evening Standard At Last

Bearish article in the Evening Standard business section.

Tries hard not to alarm their core London readership by looking at property in the "North". Some choice lines too:

Analyst Alastair Stewart says he can't recommend a purchase of housebuilders. With his Dresdner Kleinwort colleagues, he's been touring new urban apartments in the north of England, and describes much of what he's seen with a single, four-letter word.

If you believe that what happens in America eventually comes here, then the housing bear market still has a long way to go. Over there, the slide seems to be accelerating, with a record-breaking fall of 16.3% in the year to July, measured by the Case-Shiller index.

Funny thing is that another article in the paper is trying to ramp up auctions saying that cash rich buyers are snapping up properties but giving no hard evidence.
