There are worse ones on than this, looks to be a tip though. Road is fine for the price, but not that, all honest 3-bed semis, but a long trek to the station (and uphill!) and town here. Kebab shop and local Sainsburys etc. up the road.

For rental you would want a flat

http://www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/property-38635579.html (fair rent, £650-£700 I would have thought)

Very ugly, obvious ex-LA but apart from the immediate neighbours good location with parking:

what were these in 2008 then 400k ?

I viewed this place October 2006 (next road down, basically same style of housing)

http://www.rightmove.co.uk/house-prices/detailMatching.html?prop=13612319&sale=44638583&country=england

Sold for £525k 1300 sq ft, dated interior

This would have gone on the market May 2007

http://www.rightmove.co.uk/house-prices/detailMatching.html?prop=8435769&sale=17276582&country=england

It's 15% bigger and fetched £605k

This was the bottom of the market, 2008,, 1300 sq ft

http://www.rightmove.co.uk/house-prices/detailMatching.html?prop=17878615&sale=17276621&country=england

Sold for £420k

Basically the same house as the £525k in 2006 one. Garden a bit smaller, but still decent

https://maps.google.co.uk/maps?q=48+Wheatsheaf+Close,+Woking&hl=en&ll=51.326613,-0.557256&spn=0.001733,0.00327&sll=51.271515,-0.395356&sspn=0.888393,1.674042&oq=48+wheatshea&t=h&hnear=48+Wheatsheaf+Close,+Woking,+Surrey,+United+Kingdom&z=19

The 2006 house had a few quid spent on driveway and new decor (previously dated and dingy), but no extension. It sold 2010 for £580k, which was basically the 2006 price, when you took into account the better condition.

This is another along the same lines:

http://www.rightmove.co.uk/house-prices/detailMatching.html?prop=35012845&sale=47636108&country=england

Again 1300 sq ft in 2012 @ £571k

Same: http://www.rightmove.co.uk/house-prices/detailMatching.html?prop=21070242&sale=47441819&country=england £585k 2012

This £625k in 2012 basically the £571k/£585k houses with the 1930s garage turned into a 3rd reception room http://www.rightmove.co.uk/house-prices/detailMatching.html?prop=44956241&sale=47441822&country=england Now on for £725k as pointed out above

This sold 2013 at £725k http://www.zoopla.co.uk/property-history/31-wheatsheaf-close/horsell/woking/gu21-4bl/27556866 Similar the £605k house in £725k, but a bit more attractive

This sold within the last few weeks, listed at £675k and reduced to £650k asking

www.zoopla.co.uk/for-sale/details/31148996 It's the same house as the £625k (now £725k) house above, but with both garage and the 3rd reception room.

This one again sold recently, price not yet known

www.zoopla.co.uk/for-sale/details/30861320 Listed at £740k and cut to £700k asking. It's the same type of house - garage converted to study (no garage therefore), but rather than the ugly 1st floor side extensions some of the cheaper houses this one is done properly, so it's two proper floors.

So I suppose on the basis of the £420k house in 2008, this would have been £480k then, as it's a bit bigger. Not £400k, but still a good uplift.

I had a quick look it looks like west end of Folkestone is probably the most sensible place to be, decent train service and nicer than the east end.

Some of the villages around and about have very nice houses, but ridiculously isolated. This is £550k reduced to £475k

http://www.wardandpartners.co.uk/_assets/pdfs/16000169.pdf

and no sale for 2+ years but the only public transport is a 2-hourly bus.

This is on the same road

http://www.zoopla.co.uk/for-sale/details/28574019

and at £450k someone has obviously bought into the rural idyll dream with the horse and ducks and chickens, but seems to have got bored quite quickly, as they've only been there 4 years!

Off-plan £900/950k crap anyone? Sub 2000 sq foot

http://www.rightmove.co.uk/new-homes-for-sale/property-45160814.htmlhttp://media.clarkscomputers.co.uk/documents/NHCOB/NHCOBNL3K5125.pdf

From what I can see, they bought two existing Band F detached houses and are squeezing four into the same space.

Not sure why anyone would buy off-plan. One claims to be reserved though.

How about this?

http://www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/property-28476546.html

'Buy-to-let investment buyers only'

Terrible yield, why would you consider it?

That would be perfect for me (as an owner occupier), if only it were half the price.

Bit too modern for my tastes. Looks like a small plot too.

This one needs modernising, but it's still much better http://www.zoopla.co.uk/for-sale/details/32198558

This better one sold in 2012 at £925k, so it's certainly overpriced http://www.zoopla.co.uk/property-history/alcester/hockering-gardens/woking/gu22-7da/17613247

This is kite flying IMO

http://www.zoopla.co.uk/for-sale/details/32158696

It's a nice road, all substantial detached houses, a cul-de-sac though there's a footpath with some pedestrian traffic leading between Woking and Horsell. The problem is no one has ever paid even a million on this road.

This sold a couple of years ago, more-or-less opposite:

http://www.rightmove.co.uk/house-prices/detailMatching.html?prop=17973270&sale=23418675&country=england

at £750k in need of some modernisation. It's 10% smaller, but still there's no way that goes over a million.

So, for £800k you only get that annexe-bit, not the whole house? In Addlestone??

Perhaps Tolworth is about to lose it's crown....

Addlestone is 3 miles up the road.

This is the Woodham estate, which is a strip of decent-quality housing with good plots on one side of the Woking - Addlestone road.

The house here is just under a mile from West Byfleet station, though along a main (40mph) road.

Normally if you want a larger garden you have to get something out of town a bit. It's a compromise. Here the location is better than some, somewhere like this

http://www.rightmove.co.uk/house-prices/detailMatching.html?prop=26894523&sale=49594127&country=england

is rather lovely, but you are driving everywhere. This house is better located than that one, although obviously that house is much better as a house.

Makes slightly more sense as that is a much better location than Addlestone itself. It still looks like they have extended the original house and are now trying to sell the extension alone for near to what the whole thing should be worth!
