Property Pension

Recommended Posts

I remember a few years ago there was talk of your pension fund being able to own a property, then you could

live there (probably with some rent going back in your fund - the details I'm not clear on)

They realised this would be a disaster, so stopped it.

Do you think they'll bring the idea back now and would it make a difference? I think it might and it's probably the

only thing that might!

I have wandered this myself. It would certainly be a pretty big kick in the balls to any first time buyers. It would have limited effect on increasing mortgage availability, whilst still having an inflationary effect on prices and being a nice tax break for the better off. I certainly would not be surprised if the idea was revived in some form or another.

I'm waiting for them to allow banking and retail shares to be put into a pension. That'll reverse their trajectories overnight.

You already can? That can't be right  .....
