Broadcaster ITV says profits fell 28% in the first half of the year, and that its advertising revenues will be flat across the first eight months of 2008.

It also says advertising revenues will fall 20% in September against 2007, when it broadcast the Rugby World Cup.

Adjusted pre-tax profit was £91m for the six-month period, but allowing for one-off charges it made a £1.54bn loss.

That was largely due to a charge of £1.6bn made as it wrote down the value of assets bought in 2000 and 2004.

In early trade in London shares in ITV were down 7.78% at 42.70 pence.

Does anyone still watch ITV ?

How much did they pay for friends re-united ?

ITV's programming will get worse, and they will shed jobs. BBC will do the same but would have anyway due to the budget cuts.

Sat 9th tv schedule http://www.tvguide.co.uk/?thisDay=8/9/2008...;gridspan=03:00

BBC1 7pm - last choir standing

BBC2 7pm - proms

ITV1 who dares sings - 'The karaoke challenge reaches the final stage as Denise Van Outen and Ben Shephard introduce the lucky contestants who will be belting out a pop classic in the hope of pocketing a cash prize. Their efforts will be judged by a purpose-built piece of software capable of detecting which singer comes closest to hitting all the right notes. Last in series'

Primeval is the only show I've bothered to watch on ITV for a very long time.

The acting is crap, but who cares when it has stuff like velociraptor vs. motorbike chases and the fit bird from S club 7 walking around in her knickers a lot.

Watch while drunk for best effect.

The kids shows used to be better on ITV, but even those have now been dumbed down to the level of sodding boobah (watch this while on LSD for best effect).

As for primetime... meh, guess the reality drivel and soaps keep the masses amused. I can accept that it must be a lot harder to produce quality programs when your average viewer has an IQ of 80.
