Furnishing An Apartment In Vilnius

We've purchased a new build apartment in Vilnius centre - the property is all finished and we just need to decide whether or not to furnish it before letting it out. It's got a kitchen with appliances but that's it at the moment.

If we furnish the apartment then we should (hopefully) be able to get about £100 pm extra.

The standard furnishings package offered by our letting agent in Vilnius is pretty pricey. We are considering whether it would be feasible to actually go across to Vilnius for a few days (as part of a holiday) and do this ourselves - get flat pack furniture etc. Ideally we'd need an Ikea type place where we could literally go there and get the stuff straight away, buy everything under one roof so to speak. Not sure whether this would be total madness or not!

Does anyone else have any experience of furnishing their apartments in this neck of the woods and if so do you have any cost effective solutions or suggestions?

Also bearing in mind the wear and tear on furnishings is it really worth paying for these when realistically they will need replacing several years later?

Hi,

I have rented in the Baltic’s for a number of years. It’s much easy to rent with some basic furniture and most importantly a washing machine in your apartment. (often in bathroom not kitchen)

Unfortunately there isn’t Ikea yet, but plenty of furniture shops for you to buy from. Delivery is often charged by distance from shop and per floor of your apartment building.
