Crisis Moves To Pacific As "australia Faces Worse Crisis Than America"

Recommended Posts

Article in today's Times business section says that Starbucks is to close 61 of its 84 Australian outlets. 700 jobs to go.

"Some observers argued that the coffee culture brought to Australia by Italian immigrants had hampered the group's efforts."

Yes, when you can get a good coffee from a small cafe pretty much everywhere in the city for less than a starbucks large coffee coloured milk drink, of course you would go to the coffee shop.

Australia is only holding up at the moment because of the mining sector boom in the West. The rest of the country is not doing so well. They will probably be in our position next year.

Starbucks never made sense anyway.

Same old story easy credit and imagined spending ability

Dont forget that Oz and NZ are commodity countries - its not all just consuming. How bad can it be with high food prices and continued high demand for ore and earth stuff generally? I mean seriously with only 4 million people, water and some sunshine and 35 million sheep just how bad can it be for NZ

The Torygraph no doubt have some kind of mission to make it look like the world is worse than Britain so that money comes screaching home to support the mother land. :P

Difficult times perhaps but can it be *that* bad?? Yes there was insane investments into the US etc etc

No worries!

There is superb coffee here in NZ but Starbucks is total shite compared to even the smallest one man band with a mobile van, I am not surprised they are closing branches.
