Bbc Have Your Say

WTF is going on?

Earlier today I noticed BBC Have Your Say had opened up a discussion "Should the government back mortgages?" or words to that effect.

From the desk I'm sat at in work the BBC website is the only one I have access to (I'm just at current client's office on four week assignment).

On seeing this debate I took a coffee break and I walked down to the company's internet cafe hoping to alert the forum only to find I couldn't get access to HPC.co.uk.

I returned to my desk and periodically kept an eye on the debate. Nearly seven hundred people replied and practically none of the posters supported the move. Practically all were very angry at the idea as you'd expect. Why should public funds be used to support private gambling?

Just took my afternoon coffee break again at company's internet cafe hoping to alert the forum. I can now log on to HPC.co.uk but the BBC Have Your Say topic has now disappeared. Not a f*cking trace of it having even existed.

How sinister is that?

It's definately there mate.

If I click the link I get "Can the world influence China on human rights?" as top story.

Two machines must be routing to different HYS servers or something.

Anyways, job done, forum alerted to debate. Pile in.

Probably the international version of the site.

Errrr... nothing sinister, it's on their main HYS page, it's the main topic.

HPC was fooked earlier on for some unknown reason but is now okay.

Most people realise that they have been scammed, and the bank managers have made many times an ordinary mans salary for doing these deals while everyone else has been left with a hell of a problem.

Just found the link only by viewing my old posts - but the debate itself has disappeared from public view.

BBC Have Your Say

Agreed about the content. I know these things are entirely subjective, but it's pretty overwhelming. For what its worth, the link above was in the same place on the BBC news frontpage as it was this morning. That said, they do like to mess about with it constantly, so no surprise it wasn't easy to find.

No, it's here http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/talking_point/default.stm

Top freaking story man, it couldn't be more public really.

If I click the link I get "Can the world influence China on human rights?" as top story.

HPC paranoia, it catches us with the best of us at some time or other.

I bet you felt like you were Jack in an episode of "24", frantically trying to access HPC to warn us of an impending plot whilst sinister agents closed in all around you. That guy by the water cooler looked at you funny, looks like he's carrying a piece in his jacket. And the tealady - did she turn her back to drop a cyanide pill in your tea?

Isn't it amazing that the world's biggest believers in free markets and capitalism are the first to tell Governments to back off with regulation and taxes...Until their greed and incompetence bites them back and then suddenly, as if by magic, they become the biggest believers in socialism and expect the taxpayer to bail them out. Well the Government should tell the banks to get lost! it's not like they cannot create money out of thin air... That is what fractional reserve banking is all about!

Nice!!

HPC MKII lives on the BBC.

There are 48 pages of comments of mainly whinging people so far.

:-)

Standard for any BBC Have Your Say. How many of those 48 pages of comments blamed immigrants? That's usually a good proportion whatever the topic. I think various organisations have bots set up to flood posts to HYS.

Tomorrow they'll do 'should the govt do something to prop up house prices' - and there will be the same number ranting that nothings been done so far.

its good to see that a lot of mortgage owners dont want it either as they think their part paid mortgage wont be helped, while others new mortgages will. its a proper shambles and could have only come from a system and government in UTTER DESPERATION. they seem to know nothing about developing british industry and the only cards they seem to have in their books are SNOOPING and the HPI MEW RETAIL IMPORT DEBT machine.

cnagno was right.

as the co pilot of flight 74 said just after a stalled takeoff from washington dc airport 1978-

- "were going down larry".....

.."i know it.."

[end of transmission.]
