Can't see it being porn it will be able to ride out the current economic storm.

It will not only ride it out, but suck it off and splash all over the face of the current economic storm.

Not based in Stratford on Avon are they?

I was there today, and the local rag was on about some firm closing with a loss of 400 jobs?

pfizer?

From bloomberg today

- Jeffrey Kindler, Pfizer Inc.'s Chief Executive Officer, said that when he took over the world's largest drugmaker two years ago today its $7 billion-a-year research operation was failing and needed to be reinvented.

``We've tried to dismantle this monolithic structure of R&D and create smaller therapeutic areas,'' Kindler, 53, said in an interview with Bloomberg Television. ``There absolutely needs to be more efficiencies in research and development across the industry, and Pfizer is no exception.''

I really can't say as it's been announced to the work force today, (managers and reps rather than production so Viagra will still be widely available to those in need) and will no doubt hit their share price tomorrow.

Middle layers? now thats a surprise.....NOT

Unfortunately it's not coincidence, his company is asking for voluntary redundancies to be taken in November which is a year too early for my liking/plans.

We will be fine, the redundancy money if he takes it or is given it weather he wants it or not will pay the mortgage for 5 years whilst he goes back to medical school, hopefully the cloud will have a silver lining for everybody involved.

Thanks for the kind words.

I was a contractor for one of the World's biggest networking companies during the dot.con bust. The people who tok the first round of redundancies got far better packages than those who were fired in the second, third and so on rounds of redundancies.

Just something to bear in mind.

Dear Girly Girl.

I noticed, from one of your earlier posts today, that your partner was off to work this morning with a 50/50 chance of being made redundant.

If this is - by some strange coincidnce - related, I wish you both well. Been there, done it, worn the T-shirt courtesy of the beardy w@nker who owns airlines, drinkiepoo companies and cosmetics, etc etc et-f*cking-cetera, and I'd make only one observation.

It's never as bad as it seems. There's always a way to get through it, and sometimes there are some amazing and liberating upsides that you'd never have been brave enough to discover, by just resigning and "going for it" without the safety net of a redundancy cheque. However small.

Go for it and good luck to you both. "Nil Carborundum Illegitemi" and all that...

"Nil Carborundum Illegitemi"

You public school types... there you go again calling people bastards in latin :lol:

I'm going to have moules with my chip tonight. How 'bout you?

For reference, another thing we Public School types were taught was "if you can't say anything constructive, then shut the f*ck up..."

Hopefully that's a bit more accessible for you, DeepFriedBoy? :P

Still, at least Girly Girl appreciated the kind words, and that was their intended destination...
