" You Need To Buy Before House Prices Start Going Up Again!"

Recommended Posts

Some people know my situation and keep telling me that I need to jump back on the housing ladder. I should just agree with them, but you know me ;)

So this is my new reply, 'According to the Nationwide, the average house price in Northern Ireland has fallen by over £44,000 in the last 6 months. That's over £7,000 a month. I think it would be a good idea to wait until house prices stop falling by over £7,000 a month.' Then I quickly change the subject, usually with no objection. ;)

I decided to keep it simple. Ordinary people would not understand if I started explaining house price vs. income, history of housing bubbles and how bad the housing market is today, in some states in America.

So, what do you tell people, now that the crash is actually here?

I have afew different ones. Even though I dont plan to buy here, I still like to air my opinion and object to the suggestion. I say something like well, if I wait a few months or even just two years and have a mortgage for an apartment in Belfast, which costs me say for sake of arguement say £100,000 less in a mortgage than today, then I can take a take a flight once a month to Thailand,12 months a year, for 25 years with the money I ll save....
