salamander
I agree with Injin - you came across really well. It was good to hear about what must have been a very difficult situation without the self-pity and blaming of others that is so common these days. hpc-craig
Definately worth a listen. Unfotunately a lot of people will be following your plight this time around. I think there are more people who are '1 Pay packet away from repossesion' than last time.

I think there are more people who are '1 Pay packet away from repossesion' than last time. Yep. Absoloutely. This is pretty much the thrust of what I go on to say in the second programme. The incredible leverage that people are now exposed to means that only a very small movement upwards in interest rates wil be enough to finish them. Couple the above with a drying up of access to easy credit and also rising unemployment; The house of cards we have built this time around has much further to fall. 50% minimum Edited July 22, 2008 by Steve Cook

Guest Steve Cook
Very good piece Steve. I suppose this whole thing right now is bringing all those nightmares flooding back to you on a daily basis. yep I just feel so terribly sad for all of those twenty somethings out there with a family in tow who have leveraged themselves up to the eyeballs. They have no idea of the hurricane headed their way. No conception of just how bad things will get for them. And, also, how long it will take them to economically recover. This time round, it's much worse. At least I did recover, eventually. I think the crisis that is facing people this time around is so vast that many will never recover from it. Hi I have made link to the world service "outlook" page. They do the podcasts on there. http://www.bbc.co.uk/worldservice/outlook/index.shtml If you click on Monday's link you will get yesterdays programme. Skip to about 8 mins in. You need to click on the Tuesday link for today's programme. However, it has not been updated yet and still has last Tuesday's programme on it. Probably after lunch today I would think Edited July 22, 2008 by Steve Cook
