Statement regarding possible offer

Alliance & Leicester confirms that it is at an advanced stage of discussions regarding a possible offer at an offer price of 299p per share together with the right to receive an interim dividend of 18p per share which is expected to be declared in the ordinary course comprising total value of 317p per share.

Looks like the offer is below the trading price but you can bet if the offer is pulled then then A&L will crash down big time.

No offence but about 4 other threads cover this.

Yes i know but it's a fast moving story and it's not easy to keep track of the current threads and i did look before posting to see if anyone had seen this.

My apologies, could you explain to the non-financial dopeys here, like myself, what this means?

It mean we could heading towards a zimbarwa situation where money becomes just about worthless and people are starving to death.

yep this was all over the wires from early morning, weren't they supposed to issue figures this week? How convenient... <_< also the target price is 299 per share for the T/O, why so high given the share price was languising closer to £200? Could this be a new tactic by all involved, simply create rumour of T/O to inflate share price/stave of collapse? B&B up 30%+ this morning also, all very strange. Santander are not exactly in rude health either... <_< all good entertainment, they've used Peston well too who obviously sees his postion as the desperate hunter of such news...
