Whether we like it or not, Labour is the elected government of this country. We do not elect prime ministers, although the leader of the winning party in a general election customarily becomes the prime minister. We've had unelected prime ministers before Gordon Brown - James Callaghan and John Major, to name two.

Yes, they do need kicking out. But anyone here who really thinks either of the other two parties are going to change anything is as deluded as those who still think houses can only go up. Best thing is to show one's contempt for the whole commons by not voting, on mass. Democracy is not defined by putting a cross on a scrap of paper every five years; it's keeping tabs on the b%ggers once they've got in, and that was all swept away decades ago.

Well this is true, but elected on less than 36% of the vote (22% of the electorate) with a massive majority. And I should point out that Callaghan and Major at least had to face internal party elections whereas Brown just had himself crowned.

why explain yourself?

I dont even own one house, my landlady owns 64, why should she not pay more tax whilst, she has helped to sustain the property bubble and make it impossible for the likes of you and me to own a home.

Secondly, by the time my children grown up there will be very little oil left in the world, by not removing the tax on petrol people are starting to buy smaller cars and to be more frugal and less wasteful (you should google the story of stuff)

We need to conserve energy and money and one good way for a nation that is going through a transformation from a super state completely energy independent to a state that has to import large amounts of energy, is to build better and insulate old housing stock.

I don't think there is anything in this statement that makes me a twit.

Why don't you do the only meaningful thing this current government has said in the last few years?

GO READ A BOOK!

May i suggest: High noon for natural Gas

"I have no problems with extra taxation on people whom own more than one house".

But its not just people that own more than one home.

"I have no objection to higher council tax for people whom dont insulate there house to save energy".

What if people cannot afford to insulate their homes?

"GO READ A BOOK"!

I'm reading a very good book at the moment called the time travellers wife.

Bye.

Actually high oil prices are a pain, but its good for us. Its eating into the sheeples disposble income and feeding household bills inflation which also effects the amount of money people have to pay the mortgage. This will help the crash happen.

I think everybody should vote labour this time as i would like them to stay in power and be held to account for the absolute mess they have got the UK into rather than the Tories having to clear up the mess, then being blamed for it like usual.

The tax policy in this country favors rich people, rich people own lots of houses, if rich people want to own lots of houses and become there own little housing associations but unlike HA which is non profit, then they should pay much more tax for helping to distort the property market and buying into krusty's fantasy island! They should have tried to create real wealth.

If people are too poor to insulate there homes, then policy should be implemented by government on energy providers to do this and recoup the costs via billing (which will be less to the consumer as there bills will decline) it will also provide gainful employment for all the laid off builders!

STOP READING FANTASY

My goodness! You really think that you are correct. Maybe you are being ironic. Maybe not.

The nominative case pronoun "he", rather than the accusative case pronoun "him", is grammatically correct.

Whether such correct use is the vernacular is perhaps another matter.

Any irony is due to incorrect grammar in a post that itself strongly criticized the grammar of the referenced article.

I would love to join him as i hate this government, but he is talking out of his ass!

I have no problems with extra taxation on people whom own more than one house.

I have no objection to higher council tax for people whom dont insulate there house to save energy.

I have no objections to the high price of petrol, it has made people more aware that oil is finite and wasting energy will leave generations to come with a devoid planet, quite possibly devoid in not being able to support them due to our greedy wasteful society.

From reading what the guy has to say, is it a wonder that he is on minimum wage?

If people don't want to insulate their house that's up to them don't you think? It's their decision if they want to spend more money on fuel. This is something that the free market will sort out, like a million other things. It will get to a point where people will insulate on their own free will because it makes irrefutable sense. Like how people are being a bit more frugal with their petrol.

Also, why should someone pay an extra tax on owning a second house? If they rent it out, they already pay capital gains tax. If they leave it empty, it's up to them - it is THEIRS!

edit: wine

You are not saying anything to back up your statement. You are simply saying that 'he' is correct. Why is the nominative case correct rather than the accusative?

The immigrants he talks about =(THEY) [Nom./subject] - - -have a better grasp of the English language than - - -(him). [Accus./object]

They have more apples than we................. NOT us. ??????????????????

The sentence in question is:

The immigrants he talks about have a better grasp of the English language than him.

I take its intended meaning to be:

The immigrants he talks about have a better grasp of the English language than he has.

The verb "has" at the end of the sentence is omitted for brevity, but it is to be understood by the reader.

This is an example of ellipsis. See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Elliptical_construction

The strict meaning of the sentence with "him" rather than "he" would be that the immigrants have a better grasp of the English language than they they do (have a grasp) of him.

Similary for your sentence "we" is correct, not "us".

A march like this is exactly what the UK needs. Brits standing up for themselves!

I have emigrated but I was itching for a march like this when I was still in Blighty. Don't be so apathetic get out there.

I'll be sending a link on to friends and family in the UK. Evil prevails when good men do nothing.

Yes it seems they've finaly caught up with the Tories. All they need now is something as evil as the poll tax was nearly 20 years ago. Sorry pal, but this is no socialist goverment, they are a caretaker tory government through and through. How else could they have let big business and the banks run the agenda?

Crap.
